suzyed Posted August 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2010 Purchased the cruise certs on our last cruise, but didn't actually get a "certificate"....how does this work? Do we have to book through NCL or can we book with a TA and use as our deposit?
johnql Posted August 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2010 You can book through either a TA or NCL - your cruise certificate credit is attached to your Latitudes account and will show up regardless of who you book through.

Exactly right. We couldn't find our paperwork for the two we bought on our last cruise, but since they were attached to the Latitudes number it didn't make any difference at all. Enjoy! Rare sparks1093 Posted August 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2010 If you buy one as a gift how do you give it to someone if it's linked to your latitudes account and you don't receive a paper certificate?
cliffd64 Posted August 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2010 If you buy one as a gift how do you give it to someone if it's linked to your latitudes account and you don't receive a paper certificate? Simple. You call NCL with YOUR latitudes number AND the latitudes number of the person you wish to give the gift to, and it's a done deal. They do the transfer, and the others get to enjoy your gift. How do you give it to someone who has never cruised with NCL before? They wouldn't have a Latitudes number. Do you have to wait until they have actually booked a cruise so you can give the booking number instead?

In that case, you would need to have the "owner" of the certificates be present when they giftee's are booking a cruise and provide a letter/email stating they wish to transfer the certificate to the giftee... It's more tricky that way...

We'll just get one for ourselves to use next year or later.

Too much red tape for them to use it. We'll just get one for ourselves to use next year or later. I would probably urge them to book their own cruise and guide them thru that process. Then once they have done that, you can gift them with an On Board Credit by calling NCL with the cruise information. They can usually track it down with the cruisers' names, ship and sail date. Then it's up to you if you wish to tell the cruisers about the OBC or just let them be surprised when they get on the ship.

I was trying to help them have a much smaller deposit for a cruise, but your OBC idea is another good one. Thanks.
