any "QUIET" lounging areas for day use ???

My search did not bring up exactly what I am looking for.

I am not interested in lounging by the pool -- I prefer air-conditioned comfort :p for reading and relaxing.....

Are there nice sitting / lounging areas with large windows anywhere on the ship?

I know about the spa -- looking for a place without a charge....

I was disappointed on our last ship that the only major inside seating were lined up with the BACK of the seats to the window -- so you would have a beautiful view of the open casino and all ocean views were behind you.....

Also - I think I saw a picture of lounge chairs on an outside deck .... but seemed the lifeboats might be obstructing that view ???

Thanks for any heads up ......

Sorry, but it that's what you're looking for... you'll be disappointed again.

It is not what the ship was designed for, and the space you describe is not on the ship.

The only place which is quiet & has air conditioning and relaxing chairs is Bliss (during the day)....but no big picture windows.

EPIC is really designed for those who want to keep moving.... there's a lot to DO, but there's not a lot of space to DO NOTHING....of course there are some chairs on deck 7 near the ice bar, and they look comfy.... but I didn't spend any time up there. You could probably also park yourself at Fat Cats, or Headliners...but again, no large picture windows.

The Garden Cafe has a HUGE forward-facing window, but if you're planning on staying for a while, others might resent you taking up a valuable table at the buffet.

There's La Cucina, with the same view....but again, you're relaxing at a restaurant.

There were plenty of lounge chairs under the wrap around deck on the pool deck that would have shade all day. It will not be a/c but was pretty comfortable temperature wise. It won't necessarily be "quiet" but you can easily concentrate on reading or people watching. :p There was a larger covered area at the back side of the boat which would probably be a bit quieter. They were behind the elevator banks.

I loved sitting in the cushioned window seats at O'Sheehan's and watching the water go by. The windows are a good size there, but there is some noise from the air hockey game. I found it was not crowded by the windows at all-most sat by the bar or at tables near the bar or by the atrium so they could look down to the floor below. I would sit there, order an iced tea, and hubby and I would just relax for an hour or two. Another quiet spot is to sit right outside the cigar bar. It is kind of tucked away out of sight and is very quiet on eiher side of it. The chairs there are very comfy! Not great water views though from that vantage point. La Cucina during the day is open for buffet people to sit in, but had no one down there the times we went, so try it. It is a very nice space. If you look around you will find something that is just right for you-I did! Have fun!

A pleasant, indoor location with comfortable seating where people read and enjoy the view and don't rack up sales for NCL? Hahahahaha.

I know, eh? I was so angry at Exxon-Mobil last week that they didn't build a reading room onto the new gas-station.

I mean...they had an area where they sell gas, and another where they sell candy, and another where....get this.....they sell AIR!!!

But not a single place for me to bring my own cappucino from home, and a nice book to settle in the afternoon.

I don't understand. I mean they're right on my way home from the bookstore...it would be perfect if they just did this, but NO....it's all about Sell, sell, sell.

:p

I am curious about a space on the ship where you could sit with a group and play cards or other games in the afternoon on sea days.

Wasn't sure if all of the lounges would be open during the afternoon? Is Bliss?

I have heard a few places mentioned - - but was curious as to what those who have been on the Epic recently think would be the best meet up place?

I went there in the afternoon after Cozumel to read, I was the only one there! lounge is open although bar is not.

I should say I intended to read, then I saw the bed (yes that's right the bed) and I proceeded to take the best nap I've had in years.

There were many of us on the TA scurrying around look for QUIET places to read. There were cool rainy days so many on deck places were out and when it was sunny they were NOISY.

Almost every other ship I've been on has quiet sea-view places. This is a real need for many travelers--and we do buy drinks but we don't spend money every minute.

The nice seating adjacent to the bars was noisy due to open area from casino below AND smoke....lots of it.

My bed--with the door open or closed--was the best choice, or my balcony.

But as the ship rocked, I fell asleep too often and there was sometimes smoke from the next balcony.

Gee, a bookstore with a great selection in a library setting would sell books at least and maybe fancy teas and lattes.

There are many many other ships out there that will do what you want.

It is totally evident from the brochures and website that EPIC is not one of these ships. It is so obviously a floating Vegas style adults playground with some slides for the kids.

:)Thank you, ALL .... appears I am not the ONLY one interested in doing a bit of relaxing on this ship - other than on my own balcony.

If you send me an email, I can tell you about a place that's quiet and air conditioned like crazy that you can read in during the day. srb162@aol.com

I figured this was a joke - the "ice bar" reply fits......;)

mjfc: There were plenty of lounge chairs under the wrap around deck on the pool deck that would have shade all day..... this sounds like a good spot -

dawnmariex: If you look around you will find something that is just right for you-I did! Great ideas! I made note to check all of those out.

omgosh, DrD - hilarious -- I should say I intended to read, then I saw the bed (yes that's right the bed) and I proceeded to take the best nap I've had in years.

CollinIllinois....I enjoyed sitting in the Atrium Lounge where I combined people watching, reading, relaxing..........oh, and coffee and cheesecake. I usually do enjoy the Atrium for people watching -- will check it out - was not sure about 'window views' in this Atrium

It is so obviously a floating Vegas style adults playground with some slides for the kids. and I LOVE Vegas too -- the entertainment on this ship is what got me interested in booking. I enjoy a bit of downtime in Vegas too.

and EPICBRIDE16... our group has several card players who noticed no card room and a modified library with a few hours in the am and a few in the afternoon - definitely a different atmosphere! They figured they could find a lounge to use during the day for card games.

There were card players (and board game players) in O'Sheehans. Al;though hardly quiet, it was actualy quite relaxing - very much like playing games in a pub.

Try it.
