ZIPPY5150 Posted August 25, 2010 #27 Share Posted August 25, 2010 If it is not on the menu how do you know which night it is available? Onion soup is available every night. I use room service as my wake-up call. I hang the request on my door before I go to bed, they knock on my door at the time I request and they have coffee and pastries for me.:D
cruiseron36 Posted August 25, 2010 #28 Share Posted August 25, 2010 On all the cruises we've been on, we have asked for Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice in the MDR at breakfast, and there was no charge.Much better than the frozen concentrate :D This no longer exists. They now charge for fresh squeezed. Sorry!

tmitchell82 Posted August 25, 2010 #30 Share Posted August 25, 2010 You can ask your room steward to leave clean wine glasses in your room everyday (to drink water out of....who would ever bring wine onboard:D) In the MDR, you also typically get the small standard wine glass at the table, but you can ask for the nicer, taller stemmed wine glasses as well. Got told no once and said, "we had them at the Chef's Table", waiter disappeared and brought them to us. As for the Chef's Table, not well advertised and what is does not do it justice. Well worth the cost. Tim
paul929207 Posted August 25, 2010 #31 Share Posted August 25, 2010 At the buffet they usually have out two kinds of juice (normally orange and apple). They have a number of other choices, but you must request them. Things like grapefruit, grape, tomato, etc.
mjwcruising Posted August 25, 2010 #32 Share Posted August 25, 2010 I just want to thank everyone for the tips on Princess. Although I am not new to cruising we will be cruising Princess for the first time next November; and this is quite helpful.
JLDMED Posted August 25, 2010 #33 Share Posted August 25, 2010 Someone mentioned the "secret doors" always being locked while at sea because it was too windy and dangerous. Actually, they aren't always locked. We spent quite a lot of time going through the secret door (Ruby) and being out on the deck above the bridge while at sea. Yes, it is windy, but the doors WERE open, and we quite enjoyed the view.

Iamcruzin Posted August 25, 2010 #36 Share Posted August 25, 2010 Is pineapple juice available anywhere my dh's favole ole Yes they have pineapple juice. If she drinks juice during the day you can order it from any waiter for a charge. If you think that she will be drinking a lot of juice you may want to invest in the ultimate drink card. It includes shakes from the ice cream venue, smoothies, carbonated fountain drinks and juice. I think its $9 a day plus 15% gratuity. I purchased one for myself last time and I was able to get a large glass of pineapple juice at the bar. For me it was worth the extra money. I usually just get the soda card but it was nice to be able to switch to juice.
ssmantis77 Posted August 26, 2010 #37 Share Posted August 26, 2010 The warm cookies and milk are a fun treat at 3pm when the waiter with cart his delivers them at poolside. I've heard that the new Cocktail hour for Captain's Circle Elite/Platinum and Suite passengers held every night with a drink special is very nice - I will definitely try this next week on my cruise. Suite passengers now have the option of having a full breakfast at Sabitini's which is very nice. Happy cruising to all!

ocntscha Posted August 26, 2010 #39 Share Posted August 26, 2010 Yes if they have them.I've read about that on here. But, we where on the Caribbean Princess in April and found ourselves at the Pursers desk for some other reason, I think maybe just to break some large bills, and I asked about getting a deck of cards. I think the guy may have rolled his eyes at me and just pointed to the nearby gift shop. We went in there and sure enough they had decks of cards for sale. vickie_bernie Posted August 26, 2010 #40 Share Posted August 26, 2010 - volcano dessert, available on children's menu basically a huge banana split - yum - books in the library are free to borrow, as long as you return them before you get off - popcorn during muts - always ask for what you want, the staff try to accommodate to the best of their abilities

They are for sale in the shop but they will also have them in the library with the games. As they disappear they replenish them. When ever I have needed a deck I asked for them at the pursers desk and they had them. This was just recently too. I return them to the library when I am done. kymbakitty Posted August 26, 2010 #43 Share Posted August 26, 2010 A very nice man that worked in the casino showed me how to get cash out of the poker machines!!!! It was pretty cool...it took him all of 45 seconds to get me $200 in cash w/out costing me a penny. I could tell that the woman that I was initially asking would not have helped me do this....but this young man kind of swooped in and took over and helped me and I thought he was so nice for doing that! :)

kymbakitty Posted August 26, 2010 #45 Share Posted August 26, 2010 Did you tell anyone or just leave. By "did you tell anyone or just leave," I'm thinking you mean that he did what I thought was a really nice thing? Because the casino was "closed" and there was no one there except the woman and the man. If you mean, and I'm guessing, did I tell anyone what a nice thing he did for me, the answer is no. I felt a little indifferent about the whole thing so I wanted to bounce it off my husband first. He knew why I felt kind of funny about it because after I explained it to him, he concurred with my gut feeling that the "powers that be" might not be quite as thrilled about his kind gesture as I was....someone (?) was out $6 or $10 for that transaction, or lack of transaction, as a result of that man's help. My husband said it might be better not to say anything because we know that many staff get in trouble for what appears to be such insignificant things. We didn't want to risk getting him in trouble for doing such a nice thing. I certainly let him know how very thoughtful it was for him to help me. So if that is what you meant, then I guess you could say "I just left." But believe it or not, some serious thought went into whether or not we should elevate our gratitude towards his endeavor. We realized that just because we thought it was so nice--his superiors might not feel the same because it always seems to be about the bottom dollar. :)

mowb07 Posted August 26, 2010 #49 Share Posted August 26, 2010 I'm a little confused. Everywhere on this board I read that bringing wine on board is permissible and even states this in the cruise contract. I know other lines don't allow it but in all my research as a Princess newbie I've read that you can bring wine, champagne, soda/pop, or water on board, per Princess. I don't want to start a big debate about that here, just looking for soemone to confirmthis, as there are now 2 posts by seperate posters joking about "who would ever bring wine onboard?" Just want to clear it up for us newbs - also it might be considered a tip/secret to some! :)
