Nice to see that Oceania are now advising tour times for their Shores Excursions

Just noticed that for our May, 2011 cruise on Marina that the Shore Excursions are already up and that the departure times for each tour is also listed.

This is great to see as on our July/August B2B Insignia cruise this year the times of departure for Ship Excursions were not available until after we embarked. Made it difficult to plan ahead if you wanted to do 2 x 1/2 day tours in the 1 port and want to arrange a private guide for 1 of the tours. You had no idea what time to book for.:)

Thanks for the info Rhonda

Looks like on the cruise we are on they just copied & pasted info from RSSC ;)

Please note This tour may not be exclusive to RSSC guests.

Make you wonder if anyone proof reads the information before they put it online

Another job opportunity ;);)

We are on the May 2011 Marina cruise as well. For Malaga, the general information says "Spend a day in Granada seeing the magnificent Alhambra and Generalife Gardens", yet there is no excursion listed that includes a trip to Granada. Does anyone have an explanation? Could they be planning to add a Granada excursion at a later date?

No departure times for shore excursions on our two cruises in May 2011 on Regatta.

Did you look in the Already Booked section then at your cruise ?

That is where I saw the times for our Feb cruise excursions

I can't imagine them *not* having an excursion to Granada, especially with that general description. Perhaps it's just too early?

I am doing B2B on Marina - May 6 & 16. The May 6 excursions where there BUT not the May 16th. Guess they are "a work in progress".?????

Yes, I did access through the already booked.

We have a group scheduled on the Marina in May and I was wondering about the docking in Amalfi. I would guess it would be a tender and we will only be in port 6 hrs. Makes me nervous to schedule a private tour. Last time on Regent we had to abort the stop because of weather. Any knowledge about this stop and advice on booking private excursions here.

Thanks, Jan

Last October we had to abort the stop in Amalfi. As a result, the ship spent an overnight in Sorrento and we were able to phone our driver to ask him to pick us up in Sorrento. We were still able to do the Amalfi Drive as it is so close to Sorrento.

I am wondering about this excursion too. I don't know why there is nothing listed for Alhambra. We are booked for the Maiden Voyage in Jan several months before your May date and yet we too do not have this one listed. There are five excusions available for Malaga but not to Granada. Like you I am hoping they will add it soon.

You may be right and it may be to early and they may yet add more. I checked our booking and it does state under the Packages tab that no packages are available at this time. "Please check back 150-days before your cruise departure." So hopefully this indicates that the Excursion offerings may change too.

In the past excursions have been listed 4 or 5 months from sailing dates so it is a real surprise to me & maybe others that they are listed for up to 9 months in advance of some sailings.

If nothing is listed by 5 months... ask your TA if they have a list of excursions that may not have shown up on the website

You can always look at this years upcoming cruises if they have the same port as on your cruise & see what they are offering

I will bet they will be the same tours ...maybe different pricing;)

Regarding the Marina 5/26/11 cruise, looks like there will be no Oceania excursion to Granada from Malaga. This is the response I received from them:

"Thank you for your inquiry. The first page of the Malaga excursion page

is a general one used for that port. We normally do provide a tour to

Granada and Alhambra but regrettably we are not in port long enough to

offer the tour. You can; however, purchase a private vehicle either

through us or on your own which will take you to these locations. It

will be a about a 2 hour drive to and from that area so please keep that

in mind. If interested in a quote for one of our private vehicles

please contact one of our Cruise Specialist at 1800-531-5658."

This is a big disappointment to us, as we were looking forward to seeing the Alhambra. Can anyone recommend a private guide offering that trip from Malaga?

We too are disappointed that an Alhambra excursion is not offered. Ironically this is one of the few ship's excursions I was interested in purchasing because I understand the traffic can get very delayed and it is a long drive.

How long are you in port? We will be there 8-5 which I was suspecting is too short and seems to go along with the reply you received from O.

I found a guide's web site that seemed to related to other 'independant' guides. They do not get back until 6 pm or are a little ambiguous. Of all the ones I found (of course I can't find my prefered links now - will post when I do) none run their tours from Malaga on Mondays - the day we will be in port.

Hope others post with suggestions or their tour arrangement experience.

The May 26, 2011 cruise is at Malaga from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm - 2 hours shorter than your stop. Someone from our roll call has already contacted a private tour operator but they said the time period was too short for a trip to Granada and Alhambra Palace.

Maybe you'll have better luck since you'll be in port longer. Here's the link for the company they contacted: http://www.spaindaytours.com/malaga-to-granada-shore-excursion.html
