Perks/ comps for spending alot on board

After reading another post on the price of a bucket of beer, I started wondering about this. Has anyone ever gotten comps/perks for spending alot on the on board account?

We had a tablemate on our last cruise that got comps all week long. Finally he admitted that they spend about 3k on the account every cruise. Which blows my mind. I'm sure I'll never get any comps, since my account is usually pretty low.

What kind of "Comps"? The cabin was already paid for. I've heard of big spenders/tippers getting a free drink. The casino or Ocean player Club will sometimes send a bottle of wine for outstanding contributions on a previous sailing. I don't think that any bottle of wine would be worth 3k to me.

Sometimes those table mates do go on. I really like it when you have 2 sets of braggers and they just keep going like the engerizer bunny to out do each other. One time I thought we would have to order more food because neither one would let the other one outdo them.

He really wasnt a bragger. They got various things such as drink coupons, even at MDR, a bottle of wine. I know he got some gambling comps. And picture coupons, if I remember right he got most of his comps with letters left in thier room for stuff. Maybe it wasnt the truth, I just wondered.

Your tablemate was probably pulling your leg. The only time I have seen comp's is from the casino - they are probably gambling big bucks there, and the Ocean Player's Club has been known to give their "high rollers" comps like free photos, free wine, free drinks, etc...

You have Ocean and Carnival players club, they are different. You can get some really good perks from both. How you get picked I do not know. Special cruises with very good cruise prices with liberal OBC for the Casino, drinks, wine for the MDR, some just nice things. Sometimes a letter comes and sometimes they call. How and who they figure out to give the amount and deals to, I have no idea. Were happy we at least got some for the amount of cruises we have done. Im useing 2 of them, the third I can't go, bites me the OBC is more then the cruise. Thats life. Hope i get some more for next year. Nobody really talks about the players club deals, so we don't either. I know you can't ask for it, so you hope something comes your way. We don't get anything for milestone from #26 on , so maybe this is how they reward you.

The most valuable comp I can think of is to spend less. :)

He probably got a free pass to a restaurant or a free drink here and there. Hardly worth worrying about if you have $3K to spend. I think they mainly would do comps to make people believe they are important and special so they will feel good and keep throwing money at the cruise line.

I got nearly the same letter...but I get $100 in cash in the casino, instead of the Bon Voyage package. I haven't cruised in a year, but I am now 15+ on Carnival.
