@ night cruises... love them? Hate them? Is it worth it?

Hi everyone,

 

We were thinking on going on a 2 night cruise for under 800$ total for inside cabin and we were also debating whether it's worth the money. My question is, from your experience, is $800 for 2 nights inside cabin too much?

 

I've never been on a 2 night cruise so I'm just wondering if its too quick...

I would apply my money toward a longer cruise.

 

Tried it once. I was getting off after feeling I had just gotten on. No memories!

 

And I know I always hate that last day at sea before getting off. Well, it's also my first day at sea.

 

And the amount of aggravation getting on and off the ship for that short amount of time (although this was before I was VIP) didn't make it any better.

That sounds high to me. I've never priced 2-day cruises but the 5-day I'm considering is $299 for an inside cabin. (Inspiration next September)

You could book a 5 day cruise for that .. so they are indeed expensive on a per day basis. If its from a port close to you, and no 4/5 day cruises offered, it could be worth it.

Wouldn't be worth it to me. (We paid just under $1,000 for our 4 night balcony on the Triumph)

I have to agree with everyone else, you could get a 4/5 nighter for about the same amount of money (and would probably be much happier). :)

The problem is that where we live there arent that many options... and i need my cruise fix :D

 

I wish i lived in Miami where there are a ton of 3-4-5 days cruises every week.. it would be heaven!

Heck no I wouldn't pay that much. You can find deals for 7 day cruises for just a litlle more than that. I would only do a two nighter if it was 100 pp. And if I lived within an hour of the port.

That is very high priced, IMO. We are doing a 3 day and for 2 ppl it was less than $500.

My wife and I have an inside on a Dream 7 night this October for under $1000 including fees and taxes

WAY too high! We're boarding next week on a seven night, inside, all inclusive for $919 for two people. You ought to be able to get a two night for $350 at the most, and with a bit of shopping, probably a lot less than that! Just my opinion, but I'd certainly do some more shopping around!

I have priced the cruise to nowhere out before as well.. and I just dont see why they charge so much for it.. not worth it if you ask me.. save it and wait til you can add a little for airfare and go on a 4 or 5 day.

Spend the nights in a big city, nice hotel...food and drinks... probably cheaper and less hassles !

CTNs are a bootleggers dream. The duty free shop is open in international waters and since there is no foreign port, no customs.

... but they do charge tax. That surprised me. They said since no customs they charge tax for anything you buy in the duty free shops.

The Miracle from NYC? If you consider the cost of meals/hotel room and shows in NYC, this isn't such a bad deal. We like the CTNs sometimes esp. if it's a ship we've not sailed. We got to do the brand-new Dream 2 nighter last year. Loved it. It was short but a lot of fun.

I would not travel far for one of these though; we take a 50 minute train ride to NYC. I wouldn't fly to one or even drive much.

That still seems real high to me. We did a 7 nighter easter carrib on the liberty with a BALCONY for 1180 total for DW and I. The shortest we have ever done is 3 night, and even that was WAY to short. Never felt like we went anywhere...

I booked a fascination for 2 people bottom of the barrel leaving out of Jax in Feb for less than 378pp. plus we also got and upgrade to higher deck. Bottom line you can do a lot better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish i had the luxury to sail from Florida then of course cruises would be a lot cheaper! But this is NYC I am taking about... :eek:

I agree with previous posters. You can do much better. We do 7 nights for that price, with an inside cabin, on the Lido deck.
