Another "thumbs up" for Corfu Private Taxi Tours. Try to get Dimitris - he appears to be the principal of the group and is fantastic.

As Cruiser Bruce suggests, look down a few threads to "Corfu Private Tour Company" and you will find a number of posts recommending this company.

We have recently returned from Corfu. We used Corfu Taxi Tours www.corfutaxitours.com and they were very good. It was a nice drive. We also enjoyed after the tour just looking around Corfu town and browsing through all the lovely jewellery shops!

We also used corfu taxi tours. They were great to deal with, answered all our emails and scheduled a tour while we were in Corfu from NCL Gem. You did not have to make a deposit and were waiting for us with our name in car window. Even though it was raining we still had a lovely tour with Alex. Made many stops of interests along the way with photo opportunities. Told them things we wanted to see and they planned our itinerary with any changes we wanted to make. Had a 4 hour tour then dropped us off in town for lunch and some shopping. Thanks again to Dimitris and his staff and drivers for taking the time and effort to let us have a great day.

Why use a tour company? Just get a guide book or research online and figure out what you want to see. You can walk to those in town or take a taxi to others. Check the cruise sold tours and look at where they go, see what is interesting and then just figure out how to get there. If you do feel like you needed to be guided around all day, then you probably would need a tour guide. We visited the "new" fortress, the Museum of Asiatic Art - a fantastic collection housed in an old diplomatic residence- and the Achilleion Palace which is beautiful but not large, and walked around town for lunch and shopping, all in a day and without a tour guide. I believe we took a quick cab to the city within walking distance of the fortress, and then after the Museum and lunch in town took a cab to the Palace.
