Is it possible to pay Royal extra to stay on board the ship until noon or 1 p.m. if you have a night flight home??

Sorry, no you can not stay on longer since they entire ship must be emptied due to customs before it is cleared and the new people are allowed to board.

Not quite true. On our Radiance cruise there was a facility to stay on board for a fee. This was extended into the afternoon so lunch could be enjoyed in the Windjammer. Some RCCL ships have brought this facility into play. It may also depend on the time of sailaway.

Depends on the ship and what time it disembarks. Everyone must clear the ship a certain time prior to disembarkation so it may be an option...however it may be a better option to just rent a hotel room somewhere for the day and store your luggage and enjoy a beach day or some sights...

As noted, this is being done on an experimental basis on a few ships - I believe the cost was $35 per person and includes lunch. On all other ships, they want you off by 9 or 10 and certainly out of your cabin by 8. Just as you are likely to be anxious to board before noon, others getting on your ship are anxious to do the same.

My understanding is this is something only offered in Europe which means it probably has something to do with customs. We would be the first to sign up for the $35 late check out from ships that disembark from the U.S. We often get late flights because the cost is much less or they are all we can get with FF miles. This means we rent a car for the day rather then sit at the airport. We wish FLL and Miami would have someplace to go for the day like so many ports of call do. I guess the public beach is where we'll be in November waiting for our late flight.
