Promenade cabins on Explorer

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I know it has been discussed before, but I have read mixed reviews. How noisy are the promenade cabins? I am a light sleeping night owl, so late noise wouldn't bother me, but morning sounds definitely would.

Now knowing my concerns, any comments from those who have stayed in these cabins?

They really look like a nice alternative to an inside if the noise isn't too bad.

Thanks

They are no noisier than any other cabin...the windows are double-paned and do not open.

Since night noises aren't a problem, you'll be good to go. The promenade isn't an active place in the morning...at least, folks won't be partying there at breakfast time!

If there is a band playing somewhere below, you will hear it. We were in cabin 7307 last January. You could hear the band playing on deck 4. They usually stopped by 10 or so. If there is one playing on the promenade, you will hear it.

Whatever you do, don't book a connecting cabin. They are very poor in soundproofing. In fact we could see light from the next cabin through the door. And you could hear everything in that cabin.

We were in a prom cabin on deck 6 right above the casino staircase and we loved it! No noise and very convenient. I would book it again if the price was right :D

I think we were in the same room. 6279?

Promenade rooms were fun. No noise from below, you get a nice window bench and it was bigger than I had expected it to be.

I can't stress enough.. please close your blinds while dressing.

We had a promenade cabin on our first cruise. We were on deck 8 and heard NO noise. Just remember to keep your curtains closed when you don't want people across the prom. to see in your cabin.

We also had connecting cabins on our last 2 cruise and didn't hear our neighbors.

Thanks! You guys are the greatest. Never would have thought about the drapes or blinds. That could be embarassing. Anyway DH has given in and said to go ahead and book it. Time to start getting excited now.

I have pictures of our room. Do you want me to post them?

I can reconfirm this. We had 7303 on Adventure and could hear music which I couldn't understand as we were not above the pub. I then worked it out that the music was coming up from the deck4 area .

We had had a PR cabin previously on deck8 midships and had no sound issues with that one

just thinking about the (Explorer) promenade rooms (6th floor cabin) makes me smile - they are so cool...the only noise i remember is hearing the parades (barely). there's a cushioned window seat so its comfy to be a looky-loo and watch whats going on (we get room service snacks & watch the parades (they are on 5th floor). it really is a nice

$ alternative. i just had a balcony on my last cruise and would easily go back to promenade room. have a great cruise!

Actually we were right next door in 6281 :D Room looked the same but the bed was on the opposite wall. We loved that cabin - wish I were in it right now ;)
