We are in the lounge at the port of Tiangian waiting to board ship. What a fiasco!! Because this is a new terminal, many drivers got lost, including ours. What should have been 2 1/2 hours was 4. When we arrived the only reps we could find were from Princess. NO Regent agent to help get us in the terminal or help with luggage. There was 1 security line for both cruises. We had to handle all of our own luggage and were expected to board it ourselves. Princess was very organized. Had luggage drop-off and well managed the thousands preparing to board. Once we got to the check in inside. There still were no Regent agents to speak to and the most knowledgeable person was the bartender, who fielded the angry mob. We requested a ships officer to speak to the crowd and none ever arrived. We are waiting to board now. Some Chinese came to take the crowds luggage. Wonder if we will ever see it again. That's all for now. What a start

So sorry for your issues. When we arrived in Tiajin on Sunday, our driver got lost leaving the port. Understand this port has only been open for less than a month and it is quite remote from the actual city and previous port location. Possibly this issue is a continuation of the debarkation issues but, hope for sure everything gets better on the ship quickly. Many of the staff were with us in Beijing doing what seemed absolutely nothing to solve our issues with nary a sign of an apology.

Hope they got back last nite and your cruise left on time and is improving.

Hope we get a response today, internet was down last 24 hours of previous cruise, may be China issue as can't get facebook, twitter, etc. here in Xi an. Looking forward to a solution to all these issues. Sure Regent is working hard to bring things back to normal

Facebook is banned in China, and so probably twitter is too.

hi crslover, we are just off the boat. dk about the port situation, but tourism in bejing is impossible this week, due to the national holiday week. Our regent excursion busses tried to see the great wall, and tiannamin, but NO WAY. Imagine your joy at being with us in a five hour traffic jam on the way to the great wall, but then being turned back. But the Regent local staff seemed young, bright, numerous and capable. Sometimes conditions trump planning and staff, but the criticism is that Regent should have known about the holiday. Jim, back in Ohio

Good News. It is amazing what a martini and a great nights sleep will do. Although Regent is not acknowledging any of our embarkation issues, good food and pleasant weather has helped. Dalian (what we thought was a small port of 6 million) was vibrant and very wealthy. Wines good. Not so crazy about Compass Rose. Last night at Prime 7 was great. My filet could measure to Mortons. Our entertainer tonight was Jeri Sager, a broadway singer. Absolutely outstanding. The next few weeks have a lot to live up to. Rumor is the crowd is much younger than previous leg. I was surprised and happy to see. Day at sea tomorrow, then Shanghai. Keep you posted. Oh, forgot, wines so far great. They have been going to the cellar for our requests.

Never had a problem with Facebook in China. If the ship is docked and still using it's own satellite system to reach it's servers, I don't think China has anything to say about it. I did have trouble uploading large files from Chinese wifi. I don't know what caused that. Had the same problem in South Africa. But I won't let the local internet guy mess with the settings either.

Glad to hear that things are brightening up for you. Keep us posted on your adventures. As Balliett stated, Regent should have known about the national holiday and thought about other plans. Too bad for those wanting to visit the Great Wall et al.
