Any teachers out there?

have you noticed that you are the only one still in school? Where do you teach in NYC? I am retired from teaching reading in The Bronx. Now we can go away whenever we want, but we still like traveling in the summer. Always had the best weather in July.

I'm a school psychologist in Los Angeles, does that count? I'm leaving with my family on a short 4-day Mexico trip out of L.A. July 5. I work an elementary, junior high, and high school.

PS, we're looking for an SDC teacher at our junior high. Anyone interested in teaching in a small rural district in LA County, let me know.

Wow! It's been fun reading about all the teachers out there that are ready to GET OUT THERE! on their next cruise. With our profession, we really do need our breaks - they are well earned! Other people just don't understand. I worked in an office while I was in college - I never, ever want to that again - waayyyy too boring! I will work with kids any day!

My dh was a Speeech-therapist for a public school system in NY state. We could only travel, Feb, Easter or Summer (I worked in retail so X-mas was out) Thought when he retired (he was tier I NYStatem so he took early retirement) we could go away off peak and some more. Since he retired he openned his own practice, so its like pulling teeth to get him to go away at all. Sometimes you just can't win.

Still in school here in CT. I teach grade 5 in an elementary school and am Assistant Principal. Snow days put our end day to Monday, June 21. This is year 34 teaching...one more to go, then cruising life, here I come! We are off to Bermuda on Empress this summer and just returned from Grand Princess with a group of 26 in April, Spring Vacation. Have a group booked already for AOS next April 2005. I am an independent travel agent with a local business, so I am getting ready for career #2 when I retire. Cant' wait to cruise "off season" from the school calendar!

I retired last year after teaching 37 years in the same middle school. My wife and I took off on our first cruise - Carnival's "Inspiration" - just as school was starting in September of last year - the first year that I didn't have to go to work. We have since joined "The Royal Hounds" group from this Board and will be cruising with that group on "The Mariner" the week of September 19th. We have joined that group in booking on "The Miracle" in February of 2005 and "The Caribbean Princess" in September of 2005. The it's a two week cruise through the Panama Canal in 2006. Jeesh - retirement is fantastic.

In most of Florida we get out sometime mid to late May and return early to mid August. When I lived in New Jersey, we started school in September and went into late June. There is no ONE schedule for the country. In fact, schools across the street from each other (over county lines) can have different vacation schedules.

Work like a dog. Live like a pauper. Save all your money. Then Cruise!

Special Education from Ohio here. Envy is one of the seven sins. Experiencing a little right now torwards those of you who have year round schooling. I get so bored about the 6th week of summer.

We are currently considering going to a 4 day school week. Add an extra hour a day and take away a studyhall. I hope it goes through.

I teach high school law, accounting, and am the staff advisor of the school yearbook here in Canada. We finish on the 24th of June this year, and return to school the day after Labor Day. We went on NOS this past spring break, but are not planning any cruises this summer.

We loved NOS. Last year we sailed on the Radiance -- another gorgeous ship. !

I would dearly love to go on a Mediterranean cruise or a Baltic cruise. HOwever, I am planning to do that after I retire as we will be able to cruise off season -- remember, our Canadian dollar isn't worth as much when compared to the American dollar.

Today was the students' last day in my district! I have to go tomorrow and Monday for workdays. Then, freedom!!!! Teachers go back on 8/30 in my district. So, even though we got out late, we will have all of July and August off as well (well, except for 2 days...). It's onto First Grade for my babies! And back to Kindergarten for me.
