Galveston-Joes Crab shack closed?

Galveston cruiser or anyone who can help is the Joes on Seawall closed for remodeling?

The website says it is and no answer on the phone.

I know the one on Harborside was closed due to the Hurricane(that one was my favorite) but please dont tell me the other one is closed?

Well tell me if it is (LOL):D but I hope it will be open by the time we go down on Friday 10-15-10?

 

It is kind of tradition to go there before we cruise. Am I gonna have to start a new tradition?

for brunch or dinner! 14th

 

Joes is not closed for remodeling.

It was demolished 100% and a new Joes to be 100% rebuilt.

 

Other restaurants we like are:

Rudi and Pacos our favorite - on post office

LeCroy Cajun - on Strand

Saltwater Grille - on post office

Gaidos and its Pelican Club with reciprocal club memberships - on Gulf

Olympia Grille Seafood and Greek - on port

Willie G's - on port

Fisherman Wharf - on port

Fish Tales - on gulf

The Joes website list that one as being under remodeling. I called with no answer.

If it is closed for remodel I will have to try Mosquito cafe.

We live in Galveston. Galveston Cruiser and I !!!!

The property on Seawall and 35th, where Joe's was, has been cleared.

Nothing is there. A vacant lot!

 

It is definitely not being remodeled but rebuilt from the ground up!:D

It was not damaged by storm. They are just rebuilding bigger and better!!!!!!!!

Joes Kemah was held out of sale because Tillman Fetteta/Landrys

owns everthing on Kemah Boardwalk and he kept that restuarant with that name.

 

The new restaurant Joes is not of the original chain.

Go to Kemah Boardwalk Clearlake for the the old real time tradition!!!!! :D

When we were down there for our cruise in Sept. they had a chainlink fence around Joes (seawall) and the building was in very bad shape.:( Glad to hear they are building back bigger and better. It was a cruise tradition of ours as well to eat there the night before our cruise. We will be sailing out of NO in Aug. of 2011 but will be looking forward to dining at Joe's when we take our next one out of Galveston.
