evandbob Posted October 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Has anyone seen turtles on any snorkeling tours? If so where at and through which tours. I really would love to see some while snorkeling! Seen turtles in the Caymans, Barbados, Cozumel, Nassau, and Maui, Kauai and Bora Bora. Prob a few more places that I can't recall just now, have fun - wherever you decide to go.
Sargent_Schultz Posted October 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Hard not to see them in Hawaii. I've seen them in most places in the Caribbean, but often hit or miss. Barbados is known for turtles. There are a number of turtle tours.
CupKayke Posted October 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Did anyone see them on a Mexican Riviera cruise by chance????? Would LOVE to book that adventure!
adamt Posted October 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2010 We did a ship snorkeling excursion in St. Thomas. They took us to a reef, then went to another spot where turtles grazed on sea grass. There were around 30 of them. They would surface right next to you, take a little breath, and go back down. When docking in Grand Turk, the ship stirred a few up and the water was so clear you could see them moving out of the way as the ship docked. very cool. CupKayke Posted October 19, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 19, 2010 There is a place called EcoTours listed on the Cruise Critic Puerto Vallarta Tours board that has a turtle excursion. The one listed for now is an evening tour so I'm not sure what that is all about?? Maybe the hours will be different next year. Anyway, the link they have is.. http://www.ecotoursvallarta.com/index.php FYI ! I do NOT know about this company so I cannot recommend them or not ~ Cruise Critic has them on the ports board so maybe they are good??
elcuchio24 Posted October 19, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 19, 2010 Have seen them a few places in the Carrib, the best was in St. Thomas, on a catamaran snorkle to Great St. James island. It was awesome because there were only a few people in the water and the island was uninhabited, and there were turtles everywhere. Not baited, not mobbed by people. You chould swim up to them and touch them and they'd swim all around you. Great time.
Dirkgun Posted October 19, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 19, 2010 We have seen turtles just on their own in Aruba and Curacao just over in the rocks at one end of the beach usually away from the crowds. Also we have seen a bunch in Barbados at Paynes Bay. They were about 150 yards off shore over a shipwreck with lots of other fish and a few Stingrays. It was an awesome tour. We went on this small boat that had seating and then also a couple of places where you could look through a glass bottom. We found it from the shore right there on the beach at Paynes bay, Barbados. The trips are almost the same as offered by the cruise lines, just no travel time...:D:D
