FL Hotel near Shopping/Beach

Hi - need to know a good hotel to stay at post cruise for 2 nights - close to beach and good shopping. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We like the Doubletree Gallery One. Three blocks to the beach. One block to the Galleria Mall. Water Taxi stops at back door.

• 10 minutes from world-class shopping at Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall

• 10 minutes from BankAtlantic Center: NHL Panthers

• 15 minutes from Sun Life Stadium: NFL Dolphins & MLB Marlins

• 20 minutes from Las Olas Riverfront

• 20 minutes from the pristine Fort Lauderdale beaches

• 21 minutes from the Florida Everglades

 

There of course are others but just a suggestion

The nicest shopping in Fort Lauderdale is Galleria Mall or Las Olas. You can easily get to these by taxi or water taxi from any of the beachfront hotels south of Sunrise Blvd. (Atlantic, W, Westin, Ritz Carlton, Marriott Beach Place, Marriott Courtyard, etc). Galleria is about a mile walk from Atlantic Hotel, and a little bit further from Pelican Grand. Gallery One is nice and is a block from Galleria but is several blocks walk to the beach.

Could anyone please give me some idea what the walk is from the W to Galleria Mall, or if YOU were staying at the W how would you get to the Galleria(quickest easiest)?? Thanks for any help Todd

The walk is only a little over a mile to the Galleria Mall from the hotel. From the hotel go north to Sunrise blvd and then left over the bridge to the mall. Or you could take the public bus #40 in front of the hotel which takes the same route and about a 5 minute ride.

The W has an Acura that will take you places locally. I'm sure they could drive you to the mall. Just call the Acura desk or ask the concierge for details. There are also always taxis parked between the W and the Hilton and at the mall.
