Photo prices

The photo set up with all your photo's in binders was wonderful. No searching!

Unless you were one of the three couples that had their photos keep showing up in our folder.

We gave them back to the photo desk.:)

Don't know where they went after that.

Yes the photo prices have remained the same since I first cruised back in 2005. Seriously don't think it's too expensive, considering how much you'd pay for a professional photographer. My professionally taken cruise photos are cherished memories that I proudly display in my home.

Too much! They could save money (and therefore lower the prices) if instead of printing out thousands of photos that will go in the trash when they aren't bought, they could just send your photos digitally to your TV where you can decide if you want them or not. They could then ask if you want them printed or given to you on a CD. This is the 21st century after all. How many people still take pictures using film or receive pictures taken on film? People end up having to scan the photos they get so they can show them to other people. Most people these days use digital cameras and print out the pictures on their photo printer. They have gotten so good they look professional. I know it's a tradition to look at everyone's photos, but the cruise ships spends A LOT of money on high quality photo paper and processing for thousands of photos that end up in the trash. That cost is passed along to you.

We were one of 2 families traveling together. Our photos were always in their binder. I agree with you, it is not a perfect science!

You know if they were smart, they would offer a package discount for greater numbers of photos purchased. As it is, they throw away more than half of the photos that they print (my guess...). On the last day, I saw hundreds of photos left on the rack that were not purchased. I am sure that they make good money on their photo dept., but without going 100% digital they are wasting a lot of time and money.

IMHO...

On the Freedom 10/17 sailing 8x10's were $19.99 5x7's $9.99 Photo CD's with all professional prints were $299.00

Can someone elaborate on what’s included in the $299 photo CD?

Does that CD have every picture taken of you buy the ship board photographer during the cruise? So would the CD have pictures of you on your own as well as with others in your travel party?

Thanks,

do they have discounts for multiple not-so-large size? I honestly have no use for 8x10's... and barely any use for 5x7, but I LOVE all of my pictures. Like cruise4life66 and others' said, I would rather them all digitally -- saves RCI a ton in expense for the paper, products and processing.

I went on a Disney cruise two years ago, and I'm shocked that the cruise lines haven't gotten with the times since then. I went over Earth Day, and their Earth Day package was $229 (or about that) for all of your pictures... but they were all printed. How was that saving the earth?

Then they would need to keep track of who they were taking pictures. The current system they let you figure that out.

We bought a CD with all the photos that they took of us (over 60) for $300. This was on Freedom of the Sea in October 2010. RCCL uses a facial recognition system to identify which photos are yours after you provide them with a printed example. They even had pictures from our non RCCL excursion.

If Disney can do it why not RCI?? On our last vacation to WDW they issued a photopass card, when you got to a certain location for pics, they scanned the card, took the pic and then you go to the web and then you can pick out the the pics you want, EASY and doable...........................;)

Just putting this out there.

Every cruise I see people at the register that found a picture they love so they have Royal make additional prints, DON'T!

Buy the one you want, then once you get home go to image.com to print off the copy write release, head to Walgreen's, scan it and have them print out any size and any amount you like for a FRACTION of the cost.

RCCL is doing that now as well. They also use facial recognition software just like the casinos do to pick you and your party out in their database. It is a really good system.
