We have been on both but never close enough together to remember :p.

We're looking at a short cruise on Navigator before we go on Freedom again next summer. I rememer the solarium and pool deck feeling more confinder on the Voyager class ships than Freedom, but does the promenade feel noticeably smaller on Voyager class ships? Isn't that where the main expansion was on Freedom?

It's a bit smaller on the Voyager class than the Freedom class...but not enough to affect your good time! See...you can't even determine what the main difference is....so don't worry about it!

Both class of ships are designed for the number of passenger aboard...it's all good!

The only major difference I remember was the length of the ship! It was a LONG walk from our cabin to the gym and we were mid-ship I think. Plus the Flowrider add-on and a larger rock wall. There are a couple extra shops on Promenade and it's longer/wider but built for the number of people so it feels relatively the same!

One main difference between the two is a dedicated Photo Shop on deck 4 which has a staircase that leads up to the Royal Promenade. On the Freedom Class there are 2 stairways that lead down to deck 4, one down to the Photo Shop and one down to the Casino Royale. Also the Freedom Class has the On Air Club Karaoke bar. These two additional spaced venues make up the difference in lengeth size wise.

In 2008 we were on the Indy for a Nov TA followed 3 weeks later by a long holiday cruise on the Explorer. Sailing so close together, we noticed that the EX's promenade seemed too short and that the breakup of Cafe Promenade into 3 areas on the longer ship decreased the crowding senstion on the Explorer. Also the Solarium seems cramped on the Voyagers after being on a Freedom class ship

The Freedom class has 14 elevators, same as the Voyagers, which is a slight mistake.

By and large the Freedom class fixed some design errors on the smaller Voyager class. You really only notice it when you are on both classes within a short time frame.

We can't wait for the long rumored shift of the Liberty to Bayonne to replace the Explorer. We like the EX but how many times on the same ship?
