Back to Back Cruises

Has anyone ever booked a B2B cruise with Disney? If so, how are things handled on turn around day? 4 days on the Dream just does not seem long enough. I know the ports and probably the entertainment will be repeated but 7 days relaxation without having to rush to see every show, parade, or deck party sounds really good.

We did the B2B last Med/WBTA this year.

The last night we received information about where to meet the next morning (in this case Rockin' Bar D). After everyone else was off the ship, they escorted the group off and to the check in counter. We checked in just like for the first cruise and were allowed back on the ship. A few places were open for drinks and food (Promenade Lounge, I think was one). We couldn't return to our rooms until they were open for everyone after regular check in. We were able to be first in line for Palo reservations when they opened, as well as in the first group into Parrot Cay for lunch when it opened for everyone.

If you are staying the same room, you can leave all your stuff there. If you are changing rooms, you need to pack up your stuff, but you can leave it in the room and it will be moved for you.

From what I've read on this site and others when doing the b2b in Port Canaveral, it was something along the lines of all meeting in a special lounge around 9:00 a.m., then going thru customs, then quick turn to a stairwell/walkway, then back up to a lounge until allowed back on board. According to what people were saying, you leave your luggage on board and it will move to your new room if you actually change rooms.

Some people had different experiences though, but for the majority, what I said above is what people have been reporting. They said this whole process typically took around 45 min to 1 hour roughly.

We did this a few years ago and it was very smooth going. A letter appeared in our stateroom telling us where to go and what to bring on the final morning of the first segment and we met our group at the front desk. We were escorted off the ship, brought down to customs, had our passports checked, brought back up to be issued our new key cards and then were on our own. We were asked to stay out of the way of areas where there was work going on and we made sure we didn't run in and out of our cabin a whole lot. We had friends joining us for the second segment so after waving to each other (us from the ship while they were in the terminal), DH went for a run and I hung out with a book until they boarded the ship and it was like day one all over again. :)

I won't know till next year, which is when I booked my first B2B on Disney Cruise Lines. It'll be the transistion cruise from Los Angeles (California) to Vancouver (British Columbia) then the first Disney Cruise Line cruise to Alaska and then back to Vancouver (British Columbia.)

And it's good to know that I won't have to move my stuff between the two cruises, as I'll have the same cabin both times.

We did it in September. I think what actually happens changes from cruise to cruise depending on how many people and what else is going on on the ship at the time. We were given a letter the night before the second cruise telling us what to do. In our case we were just told to be off the ship by 9:30, go right back up the escalator and wait to be checked back in - sometime after 10. At some point after the ship and computers? are cleared we were allowed back on. Our group was small so we were sent to Cove Cafe - had coffee, pastries/sandwiches (just in case you were hungry in between breakfast and lunch LOL) and waited until lunchtime.

It is nice and peaceful on the ship in between sailings. If you have the same stateroom you can leave your stuff I think but we had to move across the hall. They told us to call and they would store and move our bags but since we were so close and it was the same SR host we just moved them over ourselves. They make it easy for you so don't worry about it. We are doing it again next September on the Dream and consdering adding another cruise to our Fantasy cruise in 2012.

We are doing a b2b in January on the Wonder and what the PP said is consistent with what I've read. You do have to get off and clear customs, but your escorted back on in a fairly short manner (under an hour).

I was concerned about the Cove Cafe because of our little one, but I've been told the adults only rule won't apply for that morning, which is good as they prefer that you not go back to your rooms, and if you do they want you to stay there as to not encourage the oncoming guests to go to their cabins before 1:30. You should also be able to access the pools fairly early if that interests you and also be first in line for upgrades, Palo reservations, etc.
