tipping Maitre D for what reason ?

Recommended Posts

The only time I've tipped the Maitre d is when we were assisted with changing dining arrangements.

I agree with the statement that the maitre d is management, not staff.

I could never understand why folks handed an evelope over to this person at the end of cruise. For what????

We tip our wait staff, housekeeping staff and bar waitstaff. These are the folks that work hardest in making my cruise a happy one.

If we request a dining time change from the maitre d upon embarkation (we have 3 cabins, and 1 is waitlisted for your time dining), do we tip him when we make the request? Or do we tip if he's able to change it? Or at the end of the cruise in the little envelope???

That is his job - no tip.
