chrysalis Posted December 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2010 yes, you can call room to room just like a hotel....some people use those walkie talkies....and some people leave notes in mailboxes outside the cabin doors
paul929207 Posted December 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2010 You can also plan times and places to meet.
Pam in CA Posted December 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2010 Just like a hotel, there are phones throughout the ship so you can call a cabin even if you are not in yours. Some people use stickies that they post on their door, some use small whiteboards that they keep in the notice-holder outside the cabin, and you'll have notepaper in your cabin. Walkie-talkies may not work throughout the ship because of the metal. Plus there are areas where you are asked not to use them, such as the buffet. paul929207 Posted December 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2010 And there are always cell phones if you really need to be able to find everyone every minute of the day. Of course, most carriers charge $2.49 per minute.
cruises r us Posted December 13, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2010 We bought walkie talkies a few years ago for a cruise - but they did not work well at all.
cb at sea Posted December 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 13, 2010 You'll find that despite the size of the ship, there aren't THAT many public places...you'll tend to gravitate to a couple of spots throughout the cruise. In the morning, tell everyone your "tentative" plans....Mom and Dad will be at the pool...kids in the arcade, etc....we'll meet for lunch. After lunch, Mom will be at the spa, dad will be in the casino,...if our plans change, check the room for a note! It's really not as hard as you might imagine! And, you can set up "meeting times" for the kids to find you and let you know they're alright, and where they're off to next!
Cruisin' Chick Posted December 13, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2010 If they are small children (ie under ten), they'll either be with you, a family member or inside the Fun Zone room for their age group. One less worry.
Drink-in-Hand/Toes-in-Sand Posted December 14, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 14, 2010 We like to plan on meeting for breakfast. Everyone has a highlighter and a daily schedule. We review the activities and highlight which ones we will be meeting up for. Kinda geeky, I know but that allows everyone to split up and go their own way. If nothing of interest corresponds we'll meet again for lunch and/or dinner. Post-it notes work well for quick little messages on the cabin door. And of course the in-cabin phones for voice mail. We've tried walkie talkies and either too many people have them on board or there's just too much interference. They are fun for the kids, though. Makes them feel all "secret agent" special. DrivesLikeMario Posted December 14, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 14, 2010 Post-its help. Using the phones by the elevators to call cabins helps. Otherwise, you just have to set times to meet and keep to them.
