golfadj Posted December 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Many people myself included will wait until we are on the ship, meet our tablemates and than decide when and if we want to have dinner at the steakhouse one night. No need to make a decision beforehand.

mrpayroll Posted December 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Lately they have been giving a free bottle of wine IF you go to steakhouse on FIRST night. The first night is not Elegant night or any other special night.

*Mach* Posted December 29, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Typically, the Captain's reception is the night of the first full day at sea, also the first Elegant Evening. However, it has changed somewhat. There's no longer free drinks for an hour. The reception is conducted on the Promenade Deck and drinks, at all of the Promenade Deck bars, are one dollar off for three hours. The second Elegant Evening would most often be the fourth or fifth evening of your voyage. That's when lobster is often served along with prime rib. Hope this helps... :)

Rare jimbo5544 Posted December 29, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2010 The other point is you can go to the steakhouse when you get on the ship and make a reservation at that time. Enjoy your cruise!
evandbob Posted December 29, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2010 On the Dec 4th Liberty, the first elegant night was also the lobster dinner on the first sea day. The 2nd elegant night was the last (2nd) sea day. Valor may be different?
Rena921 Posted December 29, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2010 The steak houses tend to fill up fast on formal nights...but dining there at least once is a must! And, if you don't get the time you want, you can always make a reservation for a different time and put your name on a wait list. Just keep going in and talking to the hostess/staff - bug them enough and they will get you a table at the time you want just so you leave em alone!;)
