CarnivalPride Posted January 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2011 I haven't posted here in a while, however, I decided come up with a thread for your own ideas of Carnival's next ship after the Breeze should be like. Personally, my idea for a ship would be based on Costa's Luminosa Class, which in turn is a hybrid design of Spirit and Vista Class. The ship would be equipped with Seaside Theater, and would have the Luminosa's Spirit Class-based galley layout. Also, for the elevators, please go with KONE (no more Schindler please). Rare Tapi Posted January 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2011 It seems like Carnival likes to play things fairly conservatively, just tweaking things a bit from one ship to another and from one class to another. I would love to see something truly innovative and radical, but I don't think that will be the case.
nathand95 Posted January 17, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2011 Personally, I like large mega ships. There is always tons to do and tons of people to strike an interesting conversation with. I would like to see something totally new and innovative in the cruising industry. I'm not asking for world's largest ship, but something new and novel would definitely interest me. Also, I love Norwegian because it has specialty restaurants. I believe the Magic will have an Italian restaurant. I love the specialty restaurants. The MDR's are GREAT,but I would like to see a specialty sit-down restaurant. Also, I have found the pools to be a tad on the small side, but that might just be me. Also, as far as staterooms are concerned, I would like to see 2-bedroom suites. I'm a teenager and it would be easier to stay in the same stateroom as my parents, but we don't want to share the same room. We like our own space while still being together. Other than that, I love Carnival staterooms. One major thing for is not make the casino a neccesary pass through. I hate when you have to get from the bow to the stern you have to pass through the smoky casino. I am sensetive to smoke and just cannot stand the smell. This is a very good question. Thank you for posting this. I wonder if I'm alone on the large, novel, innovative idea. I'm sure with whatever CCL decides it will be for the best. I am only 15 so who am to be so picky and critical. Just merely sharing my honest opinion here.
Rare Essiesmom Posted January 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2011 I think they should build something like the Spirit class, not a mega ship, more fuel efficient and fast so that she could sail more far-ranging itineraries. Not all of us need a floating theme park. EM
h_blond2 Posted January 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I don't think that this would ever be a possiblilty, but I would love to see a lazy river on a cruise ship!! :D How awesome would that be??
plyman69 Posted January 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I would love to see a class of ships that also has underwater viewing which is open to the public when in port. This ship is just sitting there and for those that cant swim or like to snorkel would be able to see some ocean life around them.
G'ma Posted January 19, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2011 With the variety of Carnival ships, all of which I enjoy immensly, I have only one suggestion: Smaller ship.......please.....
zackpw Posted January 19, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I am also a "cruise youngin'" and I would love to see larger ships with more to do. I know it's a lot to ask, especially for Carnival, but if they could make a megaship with less-than-normal staterooms that'd be spectacular, but I know they need to make money. I love Royal Caribbean for their megaships, but their service is downright horrible if you ask me. Carnival has decent ships and the best service, so they need to find a way to step up the ship size without sacrificing their great service and quailty. Lazy River? That sounds awesome :D How about a skydiving simulator? 3D Cinemas. Rollercoaster at sea? Lazertag! Huge lido buffets that -never- get crowded. Rock Walls--not so much... worst thing to add on a ship LOL. Ice Skating rink? Yeah. Maybe just a skating rink. Underwater viewing area would be really cool! Anything that is cool, adventurous, and fresh I am all for... especially if it if something you can do more than once on the ship and still enjoy it (rock climbing is a big no no haha). Irishlinny Posted January 19, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I would vote for a ship more like Spirit Class...bigger is not always better. These 4 ships can't live forever and so many people prefer this class of ship. But of course, knowing that the cruiselines are going to cram as many people as possible onto each ship, I know this isn't a reality.:( Love the idea of a lazy river and underwater viewing!:)

More classes similar to the Spirit class. But I often wonder if Carnival feels they "missed the boat" with not pursuing the Pinnacle class, and handing that title over to RCCL with their Genesis Class. AWCHIEF Posted January 19, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 19, 2011 It should incorporate a pulse based star drive system. It should be able to get to the moon and back in 5 days. Serioulsly, I have had enough of the mega cruise ships. If I want to go mountain climbing, I go to the mountains. Surfing, go to the beach. Bring back a ship like the old Holiday, please. Small and well maintained with a crew that still cares and has the time to give great service to everyone.
*Mach* Posted January 19, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I recall watching a documentary about the construction of the Queen Mary 2 which, at the time, was the largest passenger ship in the world. One comment that stuck with me was when the designer said that they had looked at all of the elements of design and decided that they couldn't afford to build a ship smaller than what they ended up with... 1,132 feet long and 151,000 gross tons. I fear that the same logic will drive the design of the next class of Carnival ships. The only thing that might change that would be a class of ships that demand, and get, significantly higher fares. Then you could easily make the argument that Carnival is competing with the other lines that Carnival PLC owns... :)
remharri Posted January 19, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I think a Lazy River would be awesome. I mean, look at that water slide on Disneys new Dream, that looks pretty awesome. I also like Disneys idea with the cameras in the inside cabins so you can see day light. I didn't mind the size of the Dream and have never been on the Spirit class but I would like Carnival to the setup a bit differently. Every time I step on a new ship I seem to already know my way and where everything will be. It would be nice to switch things up.
plyman69 Posted January 19, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I would like to see Carnival directly compete with the offerings of the Oasis / Allure I would love to see ziplining, water shows, water coaster, skating rink etc etc etc.... Alaskandad Posted January 19, 2011 #16 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I love the lazy river idea, but don't see how it's doable. Water would spill out constantly at each far end because the mass of water would be more than a "river" could handle as the ship pitches up and down. They would have to make the walls very high to contain it, then all you would see would be walls.

zackpw Posted January 19, 2011 #18 Share Posted January 19, 2011 There's a lazy river in this Carnival "dream": that was the Pinnacle project that they gave up. If you ask me, I think the Pinnacle is ugly. Sure the features are great, but LOOK AT IT! It's worse than the EPIC!

While I am not all for the huge mega ship, I must admit, having more specialty restaurants, a cinema, ice skating rinks, sky riding, larger pools, etc all would be great. While people say they wouldn't want to see a movie on a boat, I have to admit I was one of them until I was on HAL and we just needed a 2 hour window before our show, perfect idea, we went to see a movie. Personally, I think this is where RCCL kills CCL hands down. RCCL has a lot more innovations, on their ships and it didn't just start with the Oasis Class ships, it goes back to the Sovereign and Radiance class ships. I personally like Carnival ships becuase EVERY ship has a different theme.
