Do you know where on deck 10? We noticed a very bad smell for the past couple of days in the hall just forward from the CL on the way to our room, port side, on Deck 10. The smell was off and on.

No,but if I hear from John again,I'll ask..

Our son and daughter in law are onboard the Radiance and confirmed that they were onboard on schedule but that sailing would be delayed until 3 am. When I spoke to them around noon they were relaxing in the Solarium. I doubt that the casino and shops being closed until tomorrow will affect their enjoyment of the cruise. They got out of here just in time yesterday and despite screwups by Jet Blue and the Sheraton Hotel that they got through Priceline, they are in vacation-mode and having a great time.:)

Can't say this is the best way to start a vacation, but, will make the best of it. Sitting in the library right now and there are actually people in here reading.....at 7:45 on the first night of a cruise......go figure. People seem to be doing a lot of milling around, not really sure where to go and what to do. Very strange evening. There is definitely entertainment but really miss the casino not being open.

DH and I walked over to the Channelside mall area. Really hurting, restuarants were deserted. Don't expect much in the way of entertainment over there if this should happen to you. I don't mean to complain so much....a bad day on a cruise still beats a good day at work. Can really only be uphill from here, that's for sure.

Talked to our son last night and he told me that they were watching the divers in the water. It was his first time on a Radiance class ship (they have previously sailed only on Monarch, Enchantment(pre-stretch), Freedom and Liberty) and he was struck by how beautiful the ship is. Other than a delayed sailing everything has been fine. Distilled water and extension cord for his CPAP machine was waiting for him in the stateroom and aside from being slightly chilly (nothing compared to what we are experiencing back home) they are comfortably ensconced aboard the ship.:)

No problem. Next time we hear from him I will post any additional comments that he has. Radiance class ships are by far our favorite and we sailed on a pre-inaugural on her when she debuted and again last June in Alaska. In fact the only Radiance ship we have yet to sail on is Serenade.:) Our next four cruises are on our favorite, Jewel of the Seas.

The Jewel was having problems also, though no delays as a result. Divers with welding equipment were at the aft of the ship, I am guessing working on the Azipods, when we were boarding on 1/14.

We had several instances of back up on the black water part of the sewer system. None of the toilets on the ship were flushing when we arrived in one port early morning. Was unblocked while we were in port during that day, and then happened again while at sea. Giant sewer suckers, more equipment, and more welding gear was there to great us when we returned to Ft. Lauderdale on the 24th. This time working lower mid ship off the dock.

Looks like the twin sisters are having twin problems.

Just to follow up here now that the cruise is over and we are home. We sailed shortly after 3a on Friday morning and passed under the bridge at almost 6a on the nose. Casino and shops opened at 9a on Friday. Got into Cozumel at 10a and stayed until 8p. Saw something there I have never seen before. Carnival had two ships docked side-by-side and they both left at the exact same time. The Ecstasy backed out as it was on the inside, and the Triumph pivoted to the left and circled about. It was actually really quite cool to watch. The weather definitely warmed up in Cozumel and we reached a high in the upper 70's with lots of sun. This was our first time being in Cozumel on a weekend and was surprised how uncrowded it was. Made for some very nice shopping. Also, the Amazing Race was going on while we were there and they were running all over downtown. That was kinda funny to watch. Sailed as earlier stated at 8p. We had incredibly smooth seas the whole trip, barely felt the ship moving at all. Passed under the bridge early this morning at 2:30a and were dockside by about 6:30a. We had early disembarkation (#4) due to an early flight (10:50a). Because we docked earlier than expected they began the disembarkation earlier than expected. It was advertised to start at 9a but we went down about 8:30 and walked right off the ship with no wait whatsoever. We were at the airport by 9:15 at the latest. Very smooth!

As for the plumbing issue, it definitely was apparent. We had 9256 aft and every time we walked back to the cabin you encountered "the smell". Saw dryers out the first day, I'm guessing from the flood on deck 10. Friday night the toilets weren't flushing without having to push the button 3-4 times but by Saturday morning, the issues appeared to be resolved in our area. No further problems that we noticed. No problem at all with drains not working properly. Water pressure in the shower was wonderful.

I think, all in all, it was a good cruise. We didn't eat in the dining room once but ate at Chops once and Portofino's twice. Service was excellent in both but Chops was quite busy so I have to give the edge to Portofino's. I will say though that the maitre'd in Chops (female, can't remember her name) was outstanding. We celebrated our anniversary on this night and she really went out of her way to make it special. She had a wonderful personality.

Sorry, didn't mean to make this a mini-review but thought some of the info was worth passing on. I wouldn't hesitate to go on the Radiance again but would probably wait until after dry-dock to avoid some of the maintenance issues. Oh, and one last thing, don't miss the Seaview Cafe! Onion rings and brownies are to die for!!:D

I am in that same cabin on 2/28. How did you like it?

Thanks for the "mini-review", and happy anniversary! We also loved the Sea View Cafe on the sister ship, the Jewel, we were on last week. Yes the "o-rings" are great there too! :)

We liked to eat breakfast at the little corner outside table every morning up there by carrying our plates up from the WJ early in the morning. Great place to watch the day dawn! :)

Just got off the Radiance today. BEST VACATION EVER!!! I was on Deck 8. Had no idea about the burst pipes on deck 10 but we did have a little smell on our floor near certain rooms. Hubby was mad he couldn't gamble first night but we had an amazing time and I would gladly take a cruise on The Radiance again!

and the Triumph pivoted to the left

Should have said to the right....to the left would have been quite messy.

Really liked the cabin! The balcony size was wonderful! While it was one of the cooler cruises, weather-wise, we have been on, it was still useful with a blanket to wrap up in or a sweater and jeans. Lots of sun when the ship is pointed in the right direction. The useable portion of the balcony is completely covered. The only part not covered is up close to the railing but that area is sloped anyway. We found that if we stuck the foot of the lounger up against the railing, we had all the room we could possibly need. When we first boarded, we only had one lounge chair but that was rectified by that evening with a simple request to the steward. Lots of storage space, drawers, cubbies, etc. We have had suites our last few cruises so I was concerned about going back to a regular balcony. Shouldn't have worried in the least....plenty of room and the shower size wasn't near as bad as I remembered:rolleyes:. Tiny, for sure, but the hand-held shower head makes it so much easier. One thing I do recommend, if you plan on staying up to watch the passing under the Skyway bridge, do it the first time (when leaving Tampa) on one of the upper decks. BUT, when you come back into Tampa, watch it from your balcony. You can watch the approach on the TV bow-cam so you'll know when to go out and watch for it. It's really cool to see it suddenly appear over the top of the ship, go under it and then watch it disappear from sight off your balcony.

You'll love this cabin!

That is positive to hear. Glad it was good! I am also on Deck 8, on the port side, closer to the front, maybe 12 cabins back from the front of the ship. Were you closer to the front or rear, or smack dab in the middle?

I think the only downside with the cruise. IT ENDED! And my horse didn't win! To any sailing the ROS you will have a good time. Yes it has some minor issues that will be fixed shortly but the crew is one of the best all around. Enjoy! More please:D

Thank you so much for the positive vibes and reassurance! I have no doubt i will have a wonderful time :) Its just SOP for me to start stressing out this close to sail date.:o

I would have likely missed sailing under the Skyway Bridge anyway as I would have been in the MDR eating........now if we sail late, I might get to see it!

It left on time today, I would hope the problems causing the delays of the last two sailings are over.

Thanks so much for your answer and mini review of the cabin. :D

I missed it the first time. Great tip about the bridge!

Looking forward to the ship, this cabin, and the cruise! :)

Upgrade Fairy called and we are now Grand Suite. So excited!!!

Congrats Barbie!! :D

And how perfectly romantic to be in a GS on Valentines day too! :)

I loved our GS on the Freedom and the Mariner.

Now with this newly curtailed "retiree income"....I am back to deals I can scrounge up on JS and balconies.

But hey...I can cruise on last minute bargains and more often! :D
