love2cruise56 Posted January 30, 2012 #305 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Don't make the same class of ship look identical. Change the color scheme, how the ships layed out, stores etc. Because if you went on the Oasis you went on the Alure.
Trimming Posted January 30, 2012 #306 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Perhaps this is a British thing, but I would love to see a kettle plus tea/coffee making facilities in each cabin and also designated launderettes where you could wash/dry/iron your bits and bobs save draping them around the room. Even with a balcony you can't be sure that things will dry unless you are in a very warm climate. These facilities have been available on some of the ships I have sailed on and I have found it more convenient than using room service (you never know how long it will take) and the laundry bag deal (you never know what day that will be). I always wake up earlier than my husband, and being able to make myself a drink when I want, rather than have the intrusion of the room service whilst my husband is still sleeping has been a real bonus. Nerina Posted February 4, 2012 #310 Share Posted February 4, 2012 I would love to see more cabins that accomodate 7-8 people such as 3 adults, 1 young adult and 3 youngsters 3-6 without having to book 2 adjoining cabins. I would also love to see the beauty of the Radiance Class with the awe of Allure. Some ships have an ice rink, well how about an indoor roller rink. It could be used as a disco\club at night! Or how about an extra large adult pool with a bar behind a waterfall :D Past Cruises: 2003 Serenade of the Seas – Canada 5 Nights – Sept 6 2004 Voyager of the Seas – Western Caribbean 9 Nights – Oct 10 2005 Jewel of the Seas – Westbound Transatlantic 12 Nights – Aug 31 2006 Explorer of the Seas – Bermuda 5 Nights – May 14 2006 Explorer of the Seas – Bermuda 5 Nights – Sept 3 2007 Radiance of the Seas – Hawaii Circle 14 Nights – April 28 2008 Explorer of the Seas – Southern Caribbean 12 Nights – Mar 16 2008 Eurodam – NYC Introduction Cruise 3 Nights – Aug 29 2009 Explorer of the Seas – Eastern Caribbean 9 Nights – Mar 27 2009 Norwegian Jewel – New England & Canada 10 Nights – Oct 10 2010 Explorer of the Seas – Bermuda/Bahamas 9 Nights – May 13 2010 Norwegian Jewel – Bahamas 7 Nights – Sept 4 2010 Allure of the Seas – Labadee Extravaganza 4 Nights – Dec 1 2011 Explorer of the Seas – Eastern Caribbean 9 Nights – March 31 2011 Explorer of the Seas – Bermuda 5 Nights – July 30 2011 Explorer of the Seas – Bermuda 5 Nights – Sept 24 Future Cruises: 2012 Explorer of the Seas – Eastern Caribbean 11 Nights – March

manofsan Posted February 10, 2012 #312 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Hi, As a single guy, I'd like to wholeheartedly endorse the need for more solo cabins. Regardless of who you're traveling with, you may want to have separate rooms just to get decent rest at night, and keep yourself fresh during the day. I think that there should be "economy cabins" that offer very simple furnishings in exchange for greater cost savings. These would cater to those who don't care to spend much time in their cabins anyway. The purpose of going on a cruise is not to watch TV in your room - you can do that at home. I am fine if a cabin doesn't even have a TV, as long as the rest of the ship has the wonderful amenities available for me to enjoy. So I am in favor of offering reduced cabin quality in order to boost the quality of the rest of the ship. My understanding is that Project Sunshine seeks to do this. As for how to make the rest of the ship feel better, I'm in favor of improved architecture like Radiance of the Seas. I'm in favor of brighter interiors that bring in the light from outside, and allow you to see the ocean and exterior, so that you don't feel like you're in a large shopping mall instead of a ship. (Hell, one day if they build a cruise ship that looks like a giant catamaran, it would be great to see the ocean even in between the split-island superstructure.) You should also be able to buy a package featuring better internet access, since these days many people like to blog, tweet, or facebook every aspect of their holiday voyage. Heck, I bought a brand new smartphone just to be able to use it on a cruise.

MaskedTurtle Posted February 10, 2012 #314 Share Posted February 10, 2012 There are so many good ideas that most of mine were already mentioned. I would like to see microwaves in the rooms. Sometimes when I'm cruising I just want a simple snack like microwave popcorn. Also, I would like to see a dvd/vcr player standard in each room so that I don't have to bring my own portable one. I would like to see a dollar store as well. Ok, this is the cruise line, so it would be more like a three or five dollar store. Perhaps either radios in each room or just better music options (sometimes that classical music is a little much).
Iceman's Mum Posted February 10, 2012 #315 Share Posted February 10, 2012 Self serve laundry - but not on every deck heat pool with lazy river - brilliant idea!! more plugs in cabin & bathroom - with British voltage for ships sailing out of Southampton/Harwich sound proof cabins - yes please! and no smoking on balconies windjammer open all day & evening Plus: somewhere for "proper" afternoon tea Outside dining from both Windjammer and Main dining rooms more single cabins at no surcharge The ice rink could be covered on certain days to provide either roller-skating or a bowling alley Covered swimming pool - especially for sailings out of Britain!! Larger, more comfortable chairs on balcony - and a large enough table to have meals out there Agree with the idea of putting bed nearer the bathroom and the sofa and table by the balcony doors - and have curtains that completely separate the room in case one person needs to sit out during the night whilst the other is asleep There are some brilliant ideas on this thread! :p
Artemis908 Posted February 10, 2012 #316 Share Posted February 10, 2012 I know there is an Eco learning station on Explorer and I seem to recall maybe even more than that on one of the lower decks, but I would love to see that expanded. I wonder if it would even be possible to bring in wildlife, even if it was simple like jellyfish.

maxxedout2 Posted February 11, 2012 #321 Share Posted February 11, 2012 1. Ocean views from the inside Promenade. 2. Solo cabins with no supplemental charge. 3. Three elevator cores (like most other lines), not just two. 4. Electronic Muster. 5. Exhaust fans in PUB! Too smokey to sit in there and listen to musicians. gabbygrrl Posted February 11, 2012 #323 Share Posted February 11, 2012 No smoking on the balconies or anywhere inside the ship. A special "smoking" bar on the upper deck, Aft, with indoor and outdoor seating. Outside Blackjack, Let It Ride and other gaming tables a few nights a week. Water slide Deck patrol to take care of the "chair hogs". Dining room designated for families with a more playful atmosphere, which will help keep the Main DR more relaxed. A pub with special "local" brews from around the world (non-smoking) Larger balcony tables so you can enjoy eating out there. Loungers on all balconies. Batting cages (NCL Epic has a bowling alley-and it is insanely loud) I'd like to combine the smoking policy of Celebrity with the active vibe of RCI. The two seem to go hand in hand...yet in order to breathe fresh air, you have to be sedentary...and in order to be active, you have to breathe in unhealthy toxins. Seems backwards IMHO. jalee7 Posted February 11, 2012 #324 Share Posted February 11, 2012 More elevators. More dining options after 9:00 pm. More embarkation agents. Less passenger per tonne density. Less bingo announcements. Less time in muster drills. I agree with all except the muster drill. Safety is huge and extremely important. Not a waste of time. Jman1118 Posted February 12, 2012 #325 Share Posted February 12, 2012 My list: Two elevators mid ship (in the promenade area, the elevators would travel through a glass tube) Moving sidewalks from the rear elevators to the middle elevators and then to the forward elevators (it takes too long to walk the entire length) No smoking on balconies or indoors. Designated smoking area would be a raised deck that can also be used as a topless area on European itineraries. three flowriders, two in the back and one in the front five waterslides, two speed slides for racing, one bowl slide like the Carnival Dream, one twisty slide, and one water roller coaster similar but more intense than the one on the Disney Dream. Higher quality food in the Windjammer. More organized and quicker tendering (using both sides of the ship) No life vests required to be brought to the muster station, as you will get to try one on during the muster drill. You will have them in your room, but for emergencies only. Free local shipboard wifi (not internet, but allows you to access the ships intranet, which would have show and activity times, weather updates, book reservations and excursions. Also, it would have an online cruise compass, similar to the fun hubs on the Carnival Dream, only on your smartphone) Internet connection will still cost the same amount. Bowling alley on a lower deck four cantilever whirlpools/hot tubs Wrap around walkways on more decks An enclosed glass walkway below the running track that wraps around the entire ship. Two sports pools in the back, A larger main pool, a beach pool, a family pool, the h2o zone, and plenty of hot tubs/whirlpools More places to throw away trash and recycle (I do not like leaving stuff behind for crew to clean up) Less annoying passengers (Very rude people on the Liberty of the seas when I went, calling me rude when they are hogging chairs and the like) No docking or tendering into ports where they just corral you withing a shopping area like in Belize, Costa Maya, Roatan, and now Cozumel :( (My dad calls these port areas "Ceremonial Centers")
