Movieguy214 Posted September 6, 2012 #426 Share Posted September 6, 2012 Two beach towels already in your stateroom or at least not have to go to the top pool deck to get them. Hmm, can't think of anything else at the moment.
jimgo140 Posted September 6, 2012 #427 Share Posted September 6, 2012 The word is quickly spreading that Royal Caribbean has signed a letter of intent to build its next generation of new cruise ships. (At 158,000 tons and carrying 4,100 passengers, they're more Freedom-sized than Oasis-sized.) We're curious: What would you like to see RCI include on these new ships in terms of dining, public spaces, activities, etc.? How about a people mover on only one deck? It's a long way from bow to stern for some passengers.
Erik101 Posted September 7, 2012 #428 Share Posted September 7, 2012 I would like to see a concept restaurant/dining room such as Blu from Celebrity where the dining room is specific to suite guests and you are given the option of not wearing formal attire. This is what we are doing for our Summit cruise and we're looking forward to it!
Gorki1951 Posted September 7, 2012 #429 Share Posted September 7, 2012 Outdoor seating next to the Windjammer like on the Radiance class ships. Running track somewhere other than the area around the pool. Download options for iPads like current magazines, newspapers, books or recent movies. Probably a money maker for RCI. Minoushka Posted September 7, 2012 #430 Share Posted September 7, 2012 No more smoking indoors Anywhere including cabins lounges, casino balconies etc Cheaper price for pictures ...10$ each everyone would buy them all ...me too or have a group price like 6 pix for 50$ They sure would sell more ..plus it only costs pennies to print so the company would rake it in
jimgo140 Posted September 7, 2012 #431 Share Posted September 7, 2012 I know this may sound strange with all the ideas, .......but...Has anyone mentioned popcorn? I have never seen popcorn on a cruise ship. Is there a reason? There is every possibility of things to eat, but no popcorn. What have they got against popcorn? It goes great with beer. Count me as "who cares" about self-service laundry. I am so glad that I'm not at a condominium where I can wash and cook meals and clean up after meals. Please, please put an adult only pool so people won't complain about having to see children. I don't have children but it's just not something that bothers me, but I seem to be in the minority. Drink card or package like the soda card. I don't even care if it has a "per day max" on it...just give us a drink package for those of us that would like a bucket of frozen drinks..literally fill a bucket and give me a handful of straws. They could come up with something!!! Love the idea of the water slide. Faster internet, free internet, faster elevators. A handicapped elevator. You see too many people who are in wheelchairs and walkers that can't use the stairs waiting for elevator after elevator only to find they can't use it. We always get off and give our spot up, but we're also in the minority. A less slippery floor in the restrooms by the pools. Those floors get "oiled" down by everyone and you see multiple falls every day. A chemical in the pool water so that when people pee in the pool, it will get blue around them. This would be more fun to watch than the Hairy Legs contest!!! Every HAL ship offers popcprn at their movies.

Onessa Posted September 7, 2012 #433 Share Posted September 7, 2012 less ship, less crap -- more windows, decks etc.
nycwebdude Posted September 12, 2012 #434 Share Posted September 12, 2012 I have been a long time "frequent floater" with RCI, but have recently given NCL a try due in large part to their very successful attempt at meeting the needs of the solo traveler. 1.) Cabins designed for one 2.) Key card/private access to public spaces for the solo traveler 3.) NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT... I am getting tired of having to find someone to travel with just so I don't have to pay double. NCL's Studio Cabins have been a great success and I like the program very much. If more cruise lines (read: RCI) don't begin to address MY needs, they will lose me to NCL forever.
AnM&E Posted September 12, 2012 #435 Share Posted September 12, 2012 I don't care what it looks like nor where it is going. I just would love to go on a brand new ship's first voyage. Too bad they are always so high priced!
aloha of the seas Posted September 12, 2012 #436 Share Posted September 12, 2012 There are so many good ideas, I thought I would add one that I have had for a long time. Put a 24 hr Diner, like you would find in New Jersey on the ship. That would solve your problems for getting late night snacks or hamburgers or pizza and if it was manned properly Greek food:)
dwolfe Posted September 12, 2012 #437 Share Posted September 12, 2012 Solo-cruiser cabins with no overcharge. I wholeheartedly agree. I cruise solo the majority of the time and would love to have a smaller cabin with a smaller price tag.
Oak Hill Cruisers Posted September 12, 2012 #438 Share Posted September 12, 2012 Two more things like I saw on the Carnival Elation last week: 24/7 drink machines dispensing lemonade and ice tea (much better than the limited watered-down ice tea that's pre-poured into glasses on the Voyager-class ships). 24/7 ice cream (two flavors) and yogurt (two flavors). Trays for buffet meals (nice for holding extra plates for salads & deserts)
INGODWETRUST Posted January 5, 2013 #439 Share Posted January 5, 2013 I like the promenade deck, unlike the Radiance class that what makes the ship. solo rooms, dining option that makes you feel as though you are eating outside under the stars and state room with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathroom for family who would like to share.
LTR Posted January 5, 2013 #440 Share Posted January 5, 2013 More geared for adults, tvs in the casino bars. Lazy river instead of a kids pool, do away with the floriders, use that space for perhaps another pool, or dining area. For sure more views of the sea unlike the oasis, the worst!! styxfire Posted January 5, 2013 #441 Share Posted January 5, 2013 --LAZY RIVER!!!!!!!!!! --family suites --volume control on the announcements --get rid of the mall! --solo cruiser cabins --movies under the stars --self-serve laundry/ironing room --steel drum entertainers instead of electric guitars --smoke-free casino --formal dining atmosphere --more hottubs --speed-dating --plugs near the bed --clocks in the room! --ventilation fans in the bathrooms --country music area --more enrichment activities (presentations, cooking classes, dancing lessons, crafts, speed-dating, foreign language classes) that aren't overtly trying to sell you a product or get you drunk. familyofd Posted January 6, 2013 #446 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Im also a fan of more dining areas outside, I really miss these areas, without walking miles before your food is cold. I would love certain areas of the sunbathing decks have misters, not everyone can fit into the pools.
styxfire Posted January 6, 2013 #447 Share Posted January 6, 2013 One more justification for a LAZY RIVER is that it would relieve some of the pressure from the poolside lounge chairs. (People would be lounging on their intertube instead.) Imagine how many people you could fit into a lazy river that loops around the entire ship! I suspect a lazy river would be the most frequented amenity on the ship. They could even have a pull-out area or two with tiki-bar service, as long as they serve drinks in some kind of spillproof container. I bet people would even pay an entrance fee for a nicely-implemented lazy river that goes completely around the ship. Weight: Lazy rivers are narrow and shallow, so I wonder if the weight displacement could be balanced by weight somewhere lower in the ship, such as a larger indoor pool. time4u2go Posted January 6, 2013 #448 Share Posted January 6, 2013 As nice as a lazy river would be, I don't see it ever happening, for several reasons. As mentioned above, the weight would be a huge issue. Not just counterbalancing it, but to make it large enough to be practical, it would require a large amount of water, resulting in a very large additional weight at the top of the ship. Besides the weight, another similar issue would be the sloshing of the water when the ship rocks. Swimming pools on the ship always have a little wall around them to prevent this. Presumably, the entire lazy river would also have to have such a wall (probably on both sides of it). Not sure how pleasing that would be to look at. Another factor would be the popularity of it. I'm sure that it would be hugely popular, to the point where it would be pretty packed most of the time. I doubt it would be much fun if it's packed with people. Also, I would wonder about the use of inner tubes. It would seem that a strong enough wind could cause them to blow up and off of the ship. It can get very gusty on deck. And let's not forget the inevitable tube hogs. Again, I'd love to have a lazy river on a cruise ship. I just don't think it's a realistic proposition. (But it's fun to think about!) gfd_2 Posted January 7, 2013 #449 Share Posted January 7, 2013 * HDTV with HDMI inputs so folks can view the videos/ pics they recently took with their phones/ cameras. * Roof over the Solarium should be opened unless it's raining. It's awful that such a great pool area smells like a over-chlorinated YMCA gym. * Make use of solar panels/ wind turbine * ditto on the swim up bar * While I love the view of the ocean from the gym, add some kind of rolling view for the dreadmills OR better yet, make the jogging/ walking track more like a track with less zigs/ zags on some of the corners. * A couple more outlets for charging in the rooms. * ditto on more hot tubs, not necessarily by the pool, at the front of the ship, near the stern... scattered around. * ditto on clocks in the rooms. * free wifi then make all on board docs/ mags/ coupons available to smart phones and iStuff. * make the alcohol pkg worth more reasonable and open it up include top shelf wines. Mike and Hieng Posted February 5, 2013 #450 Share Posted February 5, 2013 For the adults on the new ships I'd love to see a waterfall climb, it would both cool people off and give a new challenge to the old rock climbing walls and as well, i think a swim up bar would fit in nice. As well for the Kids, the splash zone, it really needs to be warmed up in some way, I think a glass roof/warm water or windless area would be really helpful to prevent all the blue lips.
