Is there a good place to buy vanilla here?

St Thomas isn't really known for its vanilla, though there are some shops that sell it. Most bakers in the Caribbean use a variety of essences to flavor their goods. It might be fun for you to try some. If you go to the local Puerto Supermarket which is in walking distance from either port, you'll find them in the sugar/flour, etc aisle. If you do want vanilla, Gourmet Gallery should have a variety.
