Embarking in Venice

We are staying overnight in Venice.....our ship sails at 5:00. WE'll pick our luggage up at our B & B which is right by the parking lot for buses, and a short walk to the cruise ship pier.....

What is the latest that we should head to pick up our luggage and walk to the pier in time to make the ship? Safely?

:p

It's not such a short walk from Piazzal Roma to the cruise terminal. You will want to take a taxi or the people mover. (An elevated tram from Piazzal Roma to the dock- 3 minutes and 1 euro each) Leave P. Roma 3 PM at the latest.

NCL, will also have a free shuttle to the ship from Piazza Roma, they run all day, make sure you are on the ship at least 2 hours before sailing.

We also agree that it makes sense to grab a land taxi or use the new People Mover. As to walking, we have done it with luggage (before they had the People Mover) and it took us about a half hour to get from our hotel (Ca Doge) over the bridge and to the port terminal building.

to and from airport an hotels to ship will make me need a quiet vacation. I expect tha I will have to shell out almost 200E for these transfers.

Only if you go with the highest end - private water taxi - or have a lot of people to move about. There are several easy and affordable options in Venice, it's actually one of the easier ports.
