pacarolinagirl Posted March 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2011 A friend told me that I MUST get some chocolate rum when we're in St. Thomas. Is there anywhere near the cruiseports that sells it. We're doing an all day excursion so I know we won't have time to go anywhere else for it.
Ms411 Posted March 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2011 A. H. Riise (pronounced REESE like the candy) has their own chocolate rum (and it is delicious!). There's an AH Riise at both docks.
GinDon Posted March 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2011 We got ours at the A.H. Riise in downtown Charlotte Amalie. So, if you are doing a tour that includes shopping downtown, you can purchase it there. They will deliver it to the ship for you, so you don't have to lug it around all day. First time I tried doing this, I was skeptical of paying and just trusting that my liquor would be delivered, but they are good to their word. Done it several times with no problem. The Chocolate Rum is to die for!
Groovey Posted March 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Just curious, what mixers or types of drinks do you make with chocolate rum?? My wife loves her coconut rum, but we've never heard of chocolate rum.

Ms411 Posted March 5, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2011 I've been wanting to bake with it. Maybe in brownies or other chocolate treats. Was thinking maybe using it to make chocolate rum balls?

Tweedy Posted March 15, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2011 I think I'm going to have to find some chocolate rum. It sounds delicious and I bet it would make a good substitute in cake frosting instead of extract. I too would think the rum balls would be particularly savoury with chocolate rum instead of plain. Ms411 Posted March 23, 2011 #11 Share Posted March 23, 2011 They have special liquor travel boxes, and some new thing where they kind of wrap it in a balloon so you can pack it in your luggage, but that costs extra. $1 a bottle, I think. Please post any recipes you try with this rum!
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 23, 2011 #12 Share Posted March 23, 2011 The things you learn on these boards. :D And I thought chocolate rum was Barcardi's and YooHoo soda:D
mister exec Posted March 24, 2011 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2011 At A.H. Riise (pronounced rees) they do pack the liquor very well. In addition to their chocolate rum, they have a wonderful chocolate amaretto rum that my wife is hooked on! enjoy

donnaandtim Posted August 12, 2011 #16 Share Posted August 12, 2011 We mix ours with pudding, you use 3/4 cup of milk, 3/4 cup of rum, 1 cup of cool whip, we like it with both choc and vanilla pudding. These are our friends favorite shooters.
