Kotor sail-in

Recommended Posts

If our ship is scheduled to arrive in Kotor at 7 am, what time should we rise in order to see the sail-in, which I read is a must-see...?

At least an hour - perhaps 90 minutes. It really is beautiful - rather like the Fjords although not as steep and majestic as say, Geiranger but very picturesque nevertheless. About a half to three qauarters of hour before arriving at Kotor, you pass two small islands which are extremely photogenic so you should aim to see these at the least. Presumably unless you sail at a very inconvenient time in respest of your evening arrangements, you will get a second opportunity to enjoy the scenery as you sail out of the fjord too.

The captain of our ship (Azamara Quest) made an announcement that woke us up and so glad he did ...people were on deck wrapped in terry cloth robes, taking photos and drinking coffee for the almost l hour entrance to the town along the magnificent fjord.

The photo of the little church island is now my screen saver and next cruise (in June) I definitely will visit. The first time was reserved for the town itself which is delightful, lots of cafes, old fashioned shops, the post office and pharmacy, museum, side streets full of artisans. Like Italy used to be 40 years ago.

cardonacasa: It definitely is a must see. Gorgeous!

THANKS for the great tip and insights for this sail-in! Any other sharing of what you like and saw most inside Kotor and/or in some of the nearby village' date=' coastal towns, mountain views/towns? Appreciate the help. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio[/font']
