Kiwi Kruzer Posted March 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2011 Just got an e mail from a TA advertising 3 and 4 days cruises around NZ on HAL's Volendam , in Sept and October. Thought thats strange, so checked out the dates and then realised that its here for the Rugby World Cup, so thats how they can offer them. For anyone interested in a short cruise they may be worth checking out. I am sure all TA's will have them The cruises offered are... 4 night - SYDNEY TO WELLINGTON 04/08 October 2011 4 night - WELLINGTON TO AUCKLAND 10/14 October 2011 4 night - AUCKLAND TO AUCKLAND 17/21 October 2011 Other ships are coming too, so it may pay to keep an eye out. Could be a good chance to check out some of the overseas ships, depending on price of course. Sometimes the short cruises are a higher per day price.
Sandielle Posted March 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Great to hear you are getting more cruising opportunities, David. :) Now we just want more variety from Brisbane, and some for the people in Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart.
Aussie Gal Posted March 15, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2011 I too second that and I don't mean using either the Sun or Dawn Princess. I just wish we could have some of the better ships down here for a short time. I know that there are a few but they are not here for long. Kiwi Kruzer Posted March 15, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted March 15, 2011 These ones will be a "oncer" , thanks to the Rugby Cup. If they are successful, and I am sure they will be , I cant see why visiting ships for the season don't do a short cruise in between the milk run from Au/NZ.:) It would be good financially for the cruise lines , as they could up the per day price, and still offer a cheap enough cruise. rugbypopsie Posted March 15, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2011 The Volendam was good...I would recommend giving it a try.
steve1970 Posted March 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Anyone know of any cruises based here from 2012 onwards? Looks like the winter cruises by P&O are gone (by lunchtime?) from Auckland. See there are lines here for the World Cup - I'm sure there will be deals for these cruises, but not now - maybe last minute. I dont know why one of the other companies dont base a smaller ship (say less than 1500 pax) from Auckland during summer. Unless we want to cruiuse around NZ or around NZ and then to Sydney. We have found cruising great value for $$$, but can not afford to fly to AU to catch ships.
Trend Posted March 15, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Celebrity is puting one of their smaller ships back in your neck of the woods. We are taking it from Auckland to Sydney and I know it is scheduled to go a few times back and forth.
