Chagall Museum in Nice

I'd like to DIY from Villefranche to the Chagall Museum. Then from the museum to Old Town for lunch and window-shopping and then back to the ship.

 

Can someone tell me:

 

What is the best way to get to Nice and the Museum? Bus or train? Once in Nice, is the museum in walking distance or do I need to take a cab or other bus?

 

And then, is Old Town walking distance from the Museum or is there a bus? And finally, the best way to get back to Villefranche.

If you take the bus from Villlefranche to Nice, it walkable to the Museum from the bus depot, but it's also on a bus route, so an easy transfer. Not sure about distance to old town. Chagall Museum is great

would be a long walk,but all down hill,,,hopped on HOHO bus,,to see rest of Nice,,very convenient...many stops...great museum of you LOVE Chagall,,,my DH left me there to wander great park outside...so depends,,,great town,,,we spent 3 days there,,,and not enough to see it all....;)
