Disembarkation in Barcelona

The answer is no. Although you dock early, the ship is not immediately cleared.

We disembarked the Jade last December early in order to catch a 10 AM flight to Paris. At 7:30 AM, we were among the first to walk off the ship. So no, you aren't expected to get off that early. Enjoy your last breakfast onboard.

Did you have transportation prearranged? Did you carry off your own luggage? Do you recall what time you got to the airport? Thanks!

Every ship I've been on even the early arrivals have offered breakfast. How long you can stay on any ship varies wildly depending on when the next group of people arrive for the sailing.

Our last 3 cruises we docked early between 5am and 7am. In all cases we were asked to be off between 10am to 11am. Often disembarkation works in waves to facilitate those that need to get off quickly to catch early flights home. For our Barcelona we choose to get off last, and were getting into our cabs around 11:30 after a nice late breakfast. As we got off you could see the crew working hard to get for the next group of cruisers scheduled to start boarding at 1pm.

I'm sure you'll have time for breakfast.

I notice that the ship docks at 5am on the final day, are you expected to leave the ship very early before breakfast?

No, we just took a taxi. The cost was €35 and we were at the airport by 8 AM or so. Some of our fellow cruise mates had arranged transportation and the cost was quite a bit more. It is a requirement that if you take advantage of walk off, you must be able to carry all of your luggage off with you.

On the Jade in March, we docked at 5 a.m. NCL said we had to be out of our staterooms by 8:30, and the last group was disembarking around 9:30 -10 a.m. We left our suite at 8:30, ate breakfast at Cagneys and were off the ship around 9:30. They also offered breakfast in the buffet and main dining room. There was a fairly long line for cabs, but it moved quite quickly. We shared a larger cab with another couple that we met while waiting in line. There are a ton of cabs there waiting. We had more than enough time to make our 12:45 flight.

We finished our Jade crusie from Barcelona in March and the ship docked at 5am. NCL has luggage tags that indicate when you are disembarking. We had a tour picking us up at 8:30, but we dithered and none of the tags for the time we needed were available. We didn't want to leave the ship that early, so we rolled our own luggage off the ship, not a big deal. We still had time for a breakfast at the Gardencafe.

We disembarked from Barcelona last December. This was our second time - the first time we took NCL's transfer and it was fine - they do tend to get you off very early (we left around 6 am-ish for an 1130 am flight). We were taking a 1 pm flight in December and we took a taxi. The cost was almost comparable to the NCL charge but we were able to leave a little later - we got a taxi around 8-ish, it took about 40 minutes to get to the airport.
