Paulxyz2004 Posted April 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2011 I´ve read some news reports, that off the cost of Huatulco, Mexico the Ocean Star Princess had a fire in the engine room. The 560 passengers where all rescued and transfered ashore. The ship was just underway as Ocean Star Princess since April 8th. This was only the second cruise for the new Mexican cruiseline Ocean Star cruises. The Ocean Star Princess was built in 1971 for Royal Caribbean as Nordic Prince. Seatravelers Posted April 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2011 I'm bummed.............:( That ship was our very first cruise!!! Ours too! And, it is still one of our all time favorites - when they were built with all that wood and elegance, you didn't need all the bells and whistles we have nowadays, imho

Texas Teen Posted April 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2011 Very sad! :( Does anyone know if the damage was severe or not? Glad the passengers weren't stranded onboard this time like they were after the Carnival Splendor fire!
timnreba Posted April 18, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2011 It was the Ocean Star Pacific.... According to the cruise line the damage was "minimal". We all believe what cruise lines tell us about their emergencies don't we? LOL ALL passengers and crew were evacuated and it will be towed to port for repairs.
