Sailing Soon...Random Oasis Questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I really did not want to start a new thread for every little question, since I think the answers will be pretty simple (I just don't know them! ;)) My mom, niece and I are sailing on Oasis June 11, Western Caribbean. Thanks in advance for any help responding!

1. Is there Escargot in the MDR? Part 2, anyone know what night its offered?

2. I know this isn't a direct Oasis question, but...In Labadee, what is the best beach for swimming, relaxing and floating (and the least amount of rocks)? Part 2, would you recommend water shoes of some sort for Labadee, regardless of the beach you're at? Part 3, I would love to rent a float lounger...should I do it online now or can I get away with waiting and doing it there?

3. What are the minimum age/height/weight restrictions for FlowRider and the ZipLine (asking for my niece who is 10, but I'm not sure at the moment how tall she is or her weight - she seems tall for age, definitely thin)

Ok, I know I had more questions in my head but these are all that I can think of so I will maybe post more later. Would appreciate any help you can offer. :D

We will be sailing on the Oasis this weekend. I cant answer all your questions but I know that my daughter is too little for the flowrider and zip line. However, we were on the Independence last year and we had no problem doing the zipline in Belize. She is super light (only about 45 pounds) and had no problems. We booked a seperate excursion (not with RCL) this time to do it again in Falmouth.

If your niece really wants to do it and she is too small to qualify for the ship's zipline (which is super short anyway), don't hesitate to book a ziplinign excursion on one of your ports of call.

Enjoy your cruise!

1. Is there Escargot in the MDR? YES Part 2, anyone know what night its offered? Generally Day 2. Link to menus but note things can always change http://http://www.retirease.com/Oasis%20MDR%20Menus.pdf

2. I know this isn't a direct Oasis question, but...In Labadee, what is the best beach for swimming, relaxing and floating (and the least amount of rocks)? Part 3, I would love to rent a float lounger...should I do it online now or can I get away with waiting and doing it there? Not been there but water shoes are generally always a good thing to bring.

3. What are the minimum age/height/weight restrictions for FlowRider and the ZipLine (asking for my niece who is 10, but I'm not sure at the moment how tall she is or her weight - she seems tall for age, definitely thin) This is all listed in RCCL's website

Zipline link http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/experience/html.do?exCode=906&shipCode=OA

Ok, I know I had more questions in my head but these are all that I can think of so I will maybe post more later. Would appreciate any help you can offer. :D

Have a good time !

Unless you're a suite guest, the best beach for swimming is called Nelly's beach. It isn't signed so knowing that name isn't very helpful ;), but walk past the suite guests' beach and it will be the next one on the right. Its right next to where they used to tender in. No need for water shoes at this beach. The largest beach (to your left after getting into Labadee) has a TON of rocks. Don't go there.

3. What are the minimum age/height/weight restrictions for FlowRider and the ZipLine (asking for my niece who is 10, but I'm not sure at the moment how tall she is or her weight - she seems tall for age, definitely thin) I saw someone else post the link.

1) Yes, first formal night I believe (was it just last week, sigh!)

2) The furthest beach from the ship, I forget the name, but you had to walk through the "town" and shop area, had very few rocks, I didn't have beach shoes and it was fine, got a raft and enjoyed the day in the water!

3) sorry, this one I can't help with!

Enjoy the Oasis, she is an awesome ship, I miss her already, last week went to quickly!

The Escargots Bourguignonne is served on Day 2. Prepared this way according to their description: "Tender snails, drenched in melted garlic herb butter and baked to perfection".

I sea-jacked these menu's from another CC contributor, and since its pretty much the same fleet-wide it should help with any other meal questions. He did a wonderful job included pixs of the meals. The escargots looks delicious!

Bon Appetite!

Thanks so much for those links...I'll definitely be taking a look at those later, preferably when I'm not starving! The escargots are one of my fave cruise meals...I was so disappointed on my last cruise (princess) when they weren't on the menu.

P.S. I just noticed your blog link and it's great! :)

I believe the beach is Columbus Cove. We took the water taxi over and I didn't notice any rocks. We took the tram back to the ship - so no walking through town and the shopping area.

I agree with Carol the Oasis is a wonderful ship. I hope you have a great cruise.

We will be on the Oasis also next month. Is there one particular day that is better to eat in a specialty restaurant?

Since you are D+, go on the 1st night and use your BOGO free coupon (Buy One Get One) dinner coupon in one of the specialty restaurants.:D
