We have just booked our first cruise with P+O for next year on board the Azura, having read several reviews they seem to be a bit poor around food, size of cabins, quality/facilities on ship. would appreciate feedback from those who have been on the Azura in the last six months or so:)

Trevor - we went on our 1st P&O cruise on Azura to the caribbean back in Feb - we have previously been on 2 RCI cruises and I can honestly say both the cabin and the food in the MDR were of a better standard than we had received either time on RCI.

We weren't fans of the P&O self service buffet as I think on RCI you are spoilt for choice and for us the P&O buffet just didn't have this.

The service and the staff were amazing and we would definitely sail on her again.

You could read the same about almost any ship and need to take a wider view of reviews and take some with a pinch of salt. We were on her last year on her third ever outing and thought she was pretty good. The food wasnt as good as we have had on Ventura since but we put this down to the kitchens needing to run in. Cabins are a fair size, well laid out and well appointed.

I think Azura may suffer in reviews due to her marketing. P&O tried to sell her as a more traditional ship than Ventura which would suit couples and solo travellers whereas the reality is she is virtually identical to Ventura with the same capacity for kids therefore some P&O traditionalist may feel dissapointed.

We went on Azura's repositioning cruise in March and I have to say it was one of our very best cruises - out of 25+

We didn't use the main dining room at all - because there was so much more choice - so I can't comment on that, but everyone I spoke to seemed very impressed with the food. And certainly the select dining venues offered a fabulous choice.

The cabins were no better and no worse than any others we have seen. And neither were the facilities. The crew were extremely good, even by P&O standards.

Would we cruise on Azura again? You bet we would!

We were on Azura in March - our 8th cruise with P&O - and we were very unsure if we would like the larger ship. Much to our surprise we really enjoyed it. We took most meals in the main restaurant and the food was really good, a large amount of choice, and the Beef Wellington served on the Gala Night was fantastic.

We also dined in Seventeen and thought that was brilliant, a lovely evening. We liked the fact that the shows were put on 3 times in an evening so, as we were on 2nd sitting dining, we were able to see the show at 7.15pm and then do something else after dinner. We have booked to go on Azura again next year.

We're due to sail on Azura in December. What is the buffet like? Any recommendations for other places to eat at no extra charge on board?

You can eat in the Trattoria which sets up in the Verona buffet in the evening but with waiter service. It has no cover charge but some dishes are extra. It is very good and as the cruise goes on it becomes increasingly popular. You cannot book but they give you a buzzer if they are busy.

The glass house does charge for food but its very reasonable. £5 for three small plates or £5 for a super burger or cracking fish and chips. Its sort of bistro food, well cooked and well presented Lovely setting and a superb choice of wines at good prices. Again this was empty at the start of the cruise but packed at lunch on the last few days at the word got out.

You obviously have the poolside pizza and burger joints too.

The buffet serves standard cafeteria food for breakfast and lunch and in the evenings it has a different theme each day with a very good choice of meals.
