Oricadia Posted June 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2011 Does anyone know what currency is used at the casino tables on the Celebrity Eclipse Med cruises from Southampton? Is it US$ or Sterling? when we went on Royal Carribbean it was Sterling, but our tour operator thinks Celebrity is US$. Thank you....
helpthejuggler Posted June 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2011 My guess would be US$s. We were on Eclipse a few weeks ago and whilst I didn't play or take real interest I would have been surprised if it were not US$. Only every seen Sterling on P&O. All other charges are US$ so doubt casino would be different.

Oricadia Posted June 3, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted June 3, 2011 Thank you for the info - we'll just have to exchange some Dollars as well as the Euros. Many thanks.:)

Only one ship, Legend, when she sailed from England about 5 years ago was in £, but they soon abandoned that idea. Guess it was too much hassle to change all the menus, the tills, the slot machines, the signs, the ATM....etc.

maitlandmom Posted January 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2014 While on the Eclipse last summer I did notice that they take Euros at the tables, but give you dollar denomination chips and pay you in dollars from the cage when you cash out. Enjoy your trip!

Pretty much any line that's "headquarted" in the US will use dollars. I'd say MSC/SAGA/Hapag lloyd probably use the Euro.

Many thanks.:) If this is the only reason for changing dollars you don't need to - go to the cashier with your cruise card or with the currency you have and they will deal with it
