McDebbie Posted June 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2011 My TA said you can only get the AMEX OBC of $300 for suites if you book directly through AMEX, is this correct? Promo code PCAXOC which started in February and due to end in July. I thought I read all you had to do was use your AMEX card for the deposit and final payment both. fiftyguy Posted June 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2011 I booked a cruise through ncl, used my AE, and rec'd $300 OBC for booking a suite. I do have to make final payment with AE.
johnql Posted June 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2011 The cruise does NOT have to be booked thru Amex. You simply have to pay for the cruise using your Amex card. I booked thru a TA and received the OBC.
nackjoke Posted June 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2011 I also booked my cruise directly through NCL using my AMEX and see a $300 OBC on my reservation..

ladeeesquire Posted June 11, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2011 Thank you for this information. We originally booked thru ncl then transferred the booking to costco. I've done this in the past and they always offer some sort of obc. In this case it was $100. In looking at my cruise docs, it indicates a Rate Code PGAXOC. I called there to inquire, they were quite unhelpful and told me, without even hearing the promotionor rate codes, that "they couldn't process that" and that the "don't do that here" --I've asked to speak to a supervisor and supposedly they're having someone contact me. So what do you think? you think I already got it? I wouldn't have had to use my amex card to pay for the cruise I don't think. very confused. FlorenceItaly Posted June 12, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 12, 2011 I've already paid my deposit with another credit card(VISA). How does it work if I now apply for an AE card? Will they go ahead and refund the deposit to the Visa and let me do the deal? I think I will contact my PCC on Monday.

fleet Posted June 12, 2011 #13 Share Posted June 12, 2011 Hi, Just wanted to let you know that I went to the NCL website and tried booking with the PGAXOC promo code. It came back and said everything was sold out except suites. I did this twice to make sure. When I left the promo code off, there were plenty of rooms available. That would be the 12/04/11 Spirit sailing out of NO. Didn't try it on any other dates. So, I guess booking a balcony with that code is not available on that sailing. Seems a bit odd to me. I would say yes to AARP and certain others (but probably not all): "Offer combinable with PGWAVE11, PG6, Latitudes, Residents, Seniors, Union & Military programs, and PGAARP program code." Julma Posted June 13, 2011 #18 Share Posted June 13, 2011 I was able to get both Latitudes and Amex OBC. Took two calls to NCL, the first time they said I couldn't. I had paid at first with a different credit card, so they did have to "rebook" me. If there are price changes on your cruise that could be a problem. rvsullivan Posted June 13, 2011 #19 Share Posted June 13, 2011 Also, you must pay the entire cruise in full at booking. Can't just do a deposit and wait for final payment.:D
OceanDreaming2 Posted June 13, 2011 #20 Share Posted June 13, 2011 Also, you must pay the entire cruise in full at booking. Can't just do a deposit and wait for final payment.:D I don't think so ... FlorenceItaly Posted June 13, 2011 #21 Share Posted June 13, 2011 I confirmed with my PCC that the Amex and the Suite OBC can not be combined. I booked on a military rate and that was no problem with the Suite OBC. Unfortunately, we are not latitude members as this is our first cruise with NCL. We've cruised on many other lines, just not NCL. We are really looking to the freestyle cruising concept.
johnql Posted June 13, 2011 #22 Share Posted June 13, 2011 Also, you must pay the entire cruise in full at booking. Can't just do a deposit and wait for final payment.:D Definitely not true. Same process as always - put down deposit and then final payment when sailing date approaches. Only caveat is that both payments must be made using an Amex card.
