Stevesan Posted June 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2011 Anybody submitted a military obc request within the last month? I faxed one for a Nov 18 sailing four weeks ago, May 21st. My copy of the “transmission verification report” shows the correct fax nr: 1- 661-753-1394, but the obc still hasn't posted up. My previous requests always posted up within a few days, along with a new “booking confirmation” e-mail attachment. The “shareholder benefit” office that handles these requests doesn’t answer e-mails, and they don’t take phone calls. Thought I'd ask y’all to find out if I'm the Lone Ranger. I should mention that I used the new form, along with copies of both sides of the military ID card.
freetocruise Posted June 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2011 I submitted a request for both my husband and me on June 13th for a cruise departing Dec. 17. On June 16th, I checked My Princess and my obc had been credited but not my husband's. I emailed them today with a request to add credit for my husband and I'll post when it shows up. I asked for an email when the obc was credited. I didn't receive one but I did receive an updated booking confirmation.
poncho1965 Posted June 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2011 I faxed my info a week ago Friday, and the OBC has already been faxed to my TA.
BratDet Posted June 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2011 When I submit shareholder OBC request, I get email confirmation from Princess SUPERFAST- Carnival was much slower . When I submitted the military credit request for my son, the paper says either you get notice or the TA does within 7 days....after hearing nothing after a week.....I refaxed it...still no response- so I emailed the online ta and he confirmed it was credited.... They had my sons email...yet he got nothing.... Bernadette
katisdale Posted June 18, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2011 Both my DH and I served but you get one military credit per stateroom. We therefore submit only one set of papers each cruise. It doesn't show up on the cruise personalizer if you have your booking with a travel agent.
BratDet Posted June 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2011 it would not show up in the cruise personalizer since we used a TA, BUT I refaxed and specifically asked they respond and let us know they got it. There was an email and a phone number- yet no reply. I ordered some OBC via fax for my daughter to have her tips paid....no confirmation received despite providing an email....but i know it went thru cause there is a 150$ Princess charge on my CC bill. I'm taking a copy of the fax and statement with me. bernadette

While the policy does state the credit is per stateroom, Princess will tell you that it is actually per person. This is verified personally by me and my wife who both just got the $250 credit two weeks ago for our one cabin 14 day sailing. All you need to do is submit two separate forms with the appropriate paperwork for each.

calliecat Posted June 18, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2011 We got $100 for a 7 day cruise in January (my husband, USAF). Is is more for a longer cruise? Just looked it up.....The onboard credit amount is $50 for cruises 6 days or less, $100 for cruises of 7-13 days, or $250 for cruises of 14 days or longer, offered on a per stateroom basis..... This is great. We have a 16 day booked next year. Boy did I know what I was doing when I married my husband!
Nanatravel Posted June 19, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 19, 2011 My DH's credit only took about a week to get credited. The TA (me) did get a revised copy of the paid invoice from Princess. That is the way I knew it had been accepted and credited.

That is the way I knew it had been accepted and credited. According to the form all military OBC forms will processed within 7 days of arrival. So far this has held true, mine took 5 days my wifes the same time. Princess though does NOT notify you with any type of email or such and if you booked through a TA it will not appear on your cruise personalizer. I found the easiest thing to do was call princess after 10 days, verify over the phone it was processed and then email my TA for a updated booking summary. jnc411 Posted June 19, 2011 #13 Share Posted June 19, 2011 Sent my husbands in about a week ago and just checked and it is on our cruise personalizer now. We did book with princess so it did not have to go through a TA , that might have made it a bit quicker process, one less person to go through. Hope it come through for you soon. PrincessNancy Posted June 19, 2011 #14 Share Posted June 19, 2011 Both my DH and I served but you get one military credit per stateroom. We therefore submit only one set of papers each cruise. It doesn't show up on the cruise personalizer if you have your booking with a travel agent. This was what we were told when we booked our upcoming Alaskan cruise last November (DH & I are both retired US Navy). It was brought to my attention on CC in April that the policy now includes both the 1st and 2nd military person in a cabin. We sent my documentation in on the new form, my TA confirmed it about 10 days later. So, if you have two people in your cabin that have served in the military you are both eligible for a credit. From the Princess website: Restrictions This offer is good for only the first or second berth occupied by the military person. This offer is combinable with other Onboard Credit offers.* This offer is not transferable. This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities. This offer is combinable with most cruise fares. Some restrictions apply. Applications to receive this benefit must be made no later than 14 days to cruise departure date. For any questions regarding this offer contact: from the US/Canada 1-800-Princess. Others are correct, if you book with Princess it should show up on the Princess site. If you book with a TA then contact your TA for confirmation. Ours updated our invoice showing the additional credit.
Ontario Cruiser Posted June 21, 2011 #15 Share Posted June 21, 2011 My husband is a WWII canadian war veteran. He didn't see active service but has a disablity pension with the required blue cross card. I sent it in with a request for OBC for 14 nights and received $250. It only took a week. AJs Grandpa Posted June 21, 2011 #17 Share Posted June 21, 2011 No - it's one or the other, but not both. Started out that way but changed quickly. Both credits are available to those who qualify...I've received them three times...as recently as a couple of weeks ago.
tothemall&beyond Posted June 21, 2011 #18 Share Posted June 21, 2011 I always email my Veteran OBC requests, and until this last time, it only took 1-2 days for it to post, and to get the confirming email. This most recent booking, when I had not heard/seen anything for a week, I re-sent the email and within hours, got the confirmation. Liza must just be swamped right now. No - it's one or the other, but not both. Liza has been promoted; not handling it anymore. There is a dedicated staff doing the OBC for shareholder and military. Just submit with the appropriate form. As for getting both, yes, you can double dip, triple dip, or quadruple dip. As we do. In 2011 we have already received $1500 OBC just from shareholder and military on our three cruises.
bjkTX Posted June 22, 2011 #21 Share Posted June 22, 2011 I had to occasion to ask my TA about the Military OBC I submitted a month or so ago for our Feb 2013 cruise...and it is posted :-) I just booked a (gulp) Carnival cruise for Feb 2012 and don't get anything "Military" from that one - at least I can send in the shareholder OBC request :-)

W5KAP Posted June 22, 2011 #23 Share Posted June 22, 2011 Sigh, I faxed mine to Princess three weeks ago and have heerad or seen nothing to indicate they either received or accepted it. Any ideas where I can go now to get this done? $250 is a nice OBC and I hate to miss it. 22 years in the AF and another 18 working for them as a conractor. I'll take any help they are willing to profeeer Cheers, Kenn
bjkTX Posted June 22, 2011 #24 Share Posted June 22, 2011 Kenn (neighbor) - they don't notify you normally. If you used a Travel Agent they can tell you - they get the notification. If you booked direct with Princess (eeek) call them! Pia - instead of the OBC Carnival has military discounts on most cruises. The problem has always been for us that the regular discount everyone gets (for example booking early or if your TA has a group booking) is better! On the cruise I just booked it was $19 more if I used the military discount rather than the early booking discount. It's no fun booking Carnival - TAs can't discount - half the fun of booking is seeing how much lower than the Princess site you can go :-)
