hi,

we are stopping in monte carlo for a day on our cruise.

we arrive at 7am and depart at 6pm.

was hoping someone who has visited monte carlo can give me some advice on what to see?? is there a lot to see on your own or should we book an excursion?

also is it a good idea to go to cannes or nice??

your help will be much appreciated

To do: Visit the Casino, enjoy a drink at Cafe Paris and people watch, walk around the harbour, jaw open at the yachts ;), Visit the Palace, the Cathedral and generally walk around "the Rock" The aquarium is worth a visit. Shop, drop a few Euros at the normal folks casino to say you've gambled in Monte Carlo.

I wouldn't venture out as far as Cannes. Nice wouldn't be a bad idea, or take the train/bus to Menton or Villefranche for lunch. Both are around 1 Euro on the bus that runs frequently.

MC is tiny, no tour needed. One cannot get into Casino unless well dressed. As rec. above take the 1E bus, which stops near port, to Nice. Walk around Old Nice, see Marche and port. Walk Promenade des Anglais.

The casino next to Cafe du Paris has no dress code. it's only "The" casino in Monaco that has a dress code.

National Geographic Traveler Magazine has an article called 48 Hours: Monaco in the May/June 2011 issue. We are following that guide for our day trip to Monaco. I was not able to find a link to that article on-line, but maybe if you give it a try you might find it.

We took the express bus to Eze Village for part of the day. It is a beautiful little village in the hills of France. Bus only takes about 15 minutes to get there.

Which Bus did you take? Some say to take the 100 and others say to take the 112. Were you dropped off at the bottom near the Ocean or in front of the entrance to Eze?

Thanks,

Marlon

You want the 112 and while it might be express, it sure doesn't run very often. There's a schedule posted here somewhere if you do a search
