MILD36 Posted August 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2011 I have never cruises on Celebrity and am looking at the Millinium . The rates for the 4 and 5 day in Oct and November are not bad (without the suppliment). Before I spend anymore time with the rates, have any of you sailed SOLO on this ship? I am a Diamond member with RCCL:) and cruise SOLO and find that the staff and fellow cruises are nice and pleasant. Being a friendly (sometimes gregarious) person :rolleyes:I always smile and say hello. I was told the I would find the Celebrity "STUFFY". That would not be fun. Hi,:) not sure who told you that but I totally disagree. I have been sailing Celebrity solo for the past 8 years and the staff and crew are terrific:D. I was on Millennium in 2006 and that cruise was as good as any of my others. Stuffy? Nope, not in my opinion. I am outgoing and friendly as well and am treated in kind. Hope you have a great time! She is one of the main reasons I started sailing solo on Celebrity and I have my sixth booked on Celebrity in two years..... Celebrity is my favorite line. I sometimes have to stray for other reasons (itinerary, or relatives going on other ships)....but all things equal Celebrity is always my first choice. TPCRUISER2 Posted August 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Mild36: Agree with others. Have a great time on celeberty as well as rccl as solo cruiser. Possibility of younger cruisers due to 4-5 day cruises on millie. Just a thought!
dmwnc1959 Posted August 7, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2011 I sailed solo on Celebrity Mercury this past December, my second time on her as a solo. I also sailed the Celebrity Century and Celebrity Galaxy as a solo. As far as I am concerned the crews have always been friendly and eager to please. I am sailing solo on Celebrity Millennium Nov/Dec for 10-nights. I wouldn't have booked it if I had the slightest reservation about sailing by myself on her. Most of my 40+ cruises have been as a cruising solo. I have found a new home with Celebrity Cruises. Have a great cruise!
MILD36 Posted August 8, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Thank you all for the encouragement. I guess after 15 "solo" cruises on RCCL I need a change.
dmwnc1959 Posted August 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2011 The attentive crew and service is not intrusive like what I experienced on Carnival Cuise Lines, one of the reasons I quit sailing them along with the constant sales pitches and non-stop shipboard announments. I haven't been on RCI in years so I can't compare service but from what I remember they are more alike than different. From my experiences the atmosphere and decor on Celebrity Cruises is more contemporary with art deco style furnishings in the public spaces and a resort feel to the pool decks and solariums. I hope you enjoy your cruise! Please do come back afterwards and let us know how your experience was? :)
