Repetitive P&O new menus

OK, so that newbies to cruising and people new to P&O can see what we eat on P&O ships, I have created a album of photos of starters, mains and desserts from the MDR (Main Dining Room), From Rhodes, Marco Pierre White, and Azuras Glasshouse, the coffee shop, room service etc. These photos are taken from my range of ship albums on the present P&O fleet. Enjoy... Don't click if you want to wait until you board.;)

Three members (mother and two children) of a family my friend knows were recently on Aurora. They had no problems at all. The waiters werw able to advise what was suitable on the main menu or order from the special menu. The waiters even managed to anticipate their arrival at afternoon tea with a cake stand of gluten free cakes ready and waiting.

Thank you Sharon and thank you Brian I. I am sure I will put on a couple of kg, even eating GF on Arcadia.

The menus will be the same wherever you are sailing. We like to have lunch ashore wherever possible in the Caribbean as we particularly like their food and drink .

I don't intend to come back to the ship just for lunch - I'll be trying some of the local offerings where possible.

But there will be plenty of sea days to enjoy lunch Catherine:) That burger & chips in the GlassHouse was on a port day in Ireland on a Sunday when it had been raining heavily all day.... we came back to the ship about 1.30pm after braving a miserable Cobh with all the shops shut, and The GlassHouse was a Haven, Quiet, childfree with good food and wine, they do 3 plates 'tapa's mini meals for £5 too. If I were to give you one tip about Azura, it would be do try the GlassHouse.

The portion sizes look quite large!

Are the menus the same on every cruise or do they differ depending on location? So will caribean be more troipcal fayre or still English?

There is a new Regional Dish of the Day on every dinner menu, so although some things stay the same, there will be local dishes as well.

If you need a special diet, the Head Waiter will bring you a menu for the next day at dinner and you can choose, so you do need to make your choice 24 hrs in advance but personally I think that's a small price to pay for having lots of choice.

We are just back from Oriana and thought the food was excellent - better in the MDR than Azura last year. The lobster newburg on the 1st formal night was definitely better than the lobster thermidor from the last menus - no potato packing - so bear that in mind. I didn't have it as I was disappointed last year and was left drooling at my son's plate!

There was some sublime fillet of beef too, though in general P&O are very good at roast meat. Beef Wellington was on the third formal night menu.

DH tried some of the regional favourites which as we were in the Baltics involved meatballs and beetroot, I'd imagine in the Caribbean they will be rather different!

On the P&O site it does say they ask for 4 weeks notice of dietry needs.

Isnt it polite to do so.? Then with warning they can make sure you are catered for.. which after all is what you would want.

Some folk like me pick the veggie option for something different so its no big deal if its all gone ...
