Just off the Dream! Any Questions?

Recommended Posts

toronto, glad you had a good time.

i guess i lucked out with deck 9 as i had to make an effort look over the railing to see the jacuzzi. didn't hear any noise.

mongolian bbq was a long wait on sea days. on one occasion it took over 30 minutes. preferred the burrito bar.

cozumel - did amazing race with ship

roatan - cab to south shore zip line and beach

belize - cave tubing and ziplining thanks to cc for information

costa maya - ruins and private beach (besides my family, there was only one other couple) thanks to cc for information

disembarkation went rather quickly. i decided to pay the $20 for the ship to deliver my bags to the airport and my final destination. i just walked off, rented a car (much cheaper) and was at the airport in 45 minutes.

I see that you did the amazing race in Cozumel. We are on the Dream in December and we are also going to do the Amazing Race? Was it fun? Any tips?

Thanks

Since you stated you flew into Orlando a day earlier could you tell me a little about your transportation(ie. car rental)? How did you return the car?

How did you orchestrate that? What hotel did you stay? Where did you stay? Port Carnaveral(sp?) or Orlando?

Basically, I am asking about your transportation and hotel accommodation details! :D

Pick up van at airport Budget. Drove to Rosen Centre hotel $53 a night in Orlando from Hotwire. Chose to stay in Orlando because of more things available, downtown disney, universal walk, etc... In the morning drive approx 45+ minutes to Carnaveral and return car at Budget which is 1+ miles from port. Take free shuttle to port.

My DW and I just got off the Western Aug 6-13 Dream cruise. It was a great cruise, with perfect weather and a perfect ship. If anyone has any questions, pleas feel free to ask.

I am really going to try and write a full review, however a few things I wanted to mention.

- We had the cove balcony 2341 which was great, we liked it so much, better than the balcony we had on the Victory.

- The food was great, even the buffet. The pasta bar is not to be missed. We did not do any of the specialty dinners (steakhouse, chefs table).

- The ports were good, not great. We enjoyed more the eastern/southern itinerary of the Victory. However we still had a great time.

- Lines at the buffets were almost not noticeable. We went at peak times for meals. For breakfast if you exit to the aft pool where the Tandoori is, there is the exact same breakfast items with no line up. Only difference is that the omelet station is inside, however you need to line up for that separately anyway. Pizza and late night snacks always had a line up later at night at around 11-1130. Little bit of tip for ice cream, go to your local bulk food store and buy some toppings to bring on the ship. MMMMMM

- Infamous smell, only smell we had was on the last night on the 2nd level for about 10 feet in the hallways.

- Embarkation/Debarkation. Wow, Port Canaveral has this down to an art. They both went flawlessly. Only thing was for debarkation, a lot of ppl were trying to debark before their zone was called. This slowed it way down at the beginning, but once Butch made an announcement to stop it, the process really picked up.

- We had Butch for the CD. He was great, very funny and very energetic.

- We flew down from Buffalo the day before and rented a car.

Im sure that there are lots of other things, just ask of you want to know.

we're thinking about booking a cove balcony room. what was above your cabin? i see alot of them are below the galley. was it quiet?

We're getting ready to book a cruise on the Dream and seriously considering a Cove balcony room. Is it noisy on that level and how is the motion? Also, do you think it would be better to be front, back or mid ship on this level? Cheers!

Cove is the best, we loved it. It was so private and we heard no noise at all except for the rushing sounds of the ocean. We were pretty much in the middle and felt no motion. We always prefer middle because than you are in the center of everything. Don't forget that the dining room is aft and the encore theater is forward, so being in the middle is the best for us. It is really personal preference. If motion is an issue, than the middle would probably be the best. Make sure you get a cabin on the Port side if you are doing the western itinerary.
