maryann ns Posted August 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2011 That is a good question (which means I don't have the answer). Perhaps you can contact them. This site tells you how to contact the navy: http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/cms/0/0_eng.asp There is also a museum: http://psphalifax.ca/marcommuseum/contact.html You can get as close as new security laws allow to the ships by taking the Harbour Hopper tour. MonaCD Posted August 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2011 Is there any way to tour the naval base in Halifax? Asked my husband who is recently retired from the Navy and he says contact Public Affairs http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/cms/9/9_eng.asp. They do arrange tours for school groups and the like, but they don't have a regular tour. Nt sure they'd do it for an individual but it never hurts to ask. And like Maryanne says you get better views of the ships if you take a harbour tour.
sail7seas Posted August 19, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2011 We had our lobster lunch on the patio of a restaurant along the boardwalk and the Navy was doing exercises of some sort. We had a great view of helicopters, frigates, navy vessels in waters just in front of us. Was really fun watching.
