We are planning to arrive Dec 31 into hobby a/p. I am not keen on staying near the a/p and spending 2 nights at a cheap hotel. Do you think it would be wise to taxi it to Clear Lake so we can spend new years day at NASA then taxi it to Galveston next day? This is our first cruise and 2 teen boys in tow...

You might be better seeing about getting a car servive if you've got 4 people and luggage. Also, things really aren't walking distance in the NASA area. Won't be able to do much without a car. I'd suggest going directly to Galveston. There's much more to do and the island isn't all that big. Imagine the hotel rooms will be a little more expensive over New Years Eve.
