CCL Elation???

Unless she's changed the Elation has the original "Mickey Mouse" pool (round pool and two round hottubs) on 11 aft, not the waterworks. The slide goes directly to the lido pool.

I posted a link to my pictures and someone else posted some on that thread too.

this is the pool on elation from above link

Carnival has stated that their primary reason for moving the Elation from Mobile to New Orleans is that they will be able to charge passengers on average $25 more per person per day. Just sayin'.

I never heard that. Where did you hear this? Probably they do think New Orleans is a stronger market. Galveston is a stronger market than New Orleans for that matter. I expect to pay up to $100 more to cruise out of Galveston.

Was told the same thing last weekend by one of the Port Security folks....Said Mobile would'nt allow a price increase so Carnival was pulling out.......Makes total sense why because there is no other reason as that Port stays full, not for lack of customers that's for sure........

If ALdot would build us the controversial and long overdue I-10 bridge across the

river to bypass the tunnels, I would gladly kiss Carnival and any other cruise line goodbye. I wouldn't care if Mobile could never fit a cruise ship up the river again if we could just get this freakin bridge off the ground. The bottle neck in the tunnels everyday has become a quality of life issue.

Has anyone been on this ship? Does anyone have pic? This ship is moving to NOLA and we are thinking about doing a family reunion trip out of NOLA and I would like to see pic and gather info on this ship. Anything anyone can do will help...Thanks Q

We are booked on the Elation 9/l0 sailing. They do not have the water works on this ship. I heard when it goes into dry dock- after last l0/l5 sailing out of Mobile it will be updated and things like the water park area - Water Works will be added so should be nicer then.

Quoted in the Mobile Register by the mayor of Mobile after talks with Carnival beards. You can find the story at al.com

Life is all about choices and consequences. I presume that you made a choice to live on the eastern shore and as a result, some of the consequences are associated with traffic congestion and the tunnels. You still have options, however... like move west young man.

And right now the Triumph cabins are running cheaper than the Elation in Mobile. So much for that bunch of bull. And that is with just two ships in NOLA. Prices will come down even further when you have Ecstasy/Elation; Conquest; NCL Spirit/Star; and Voyager of the Seas/Navigator of the Seas there.

If you had read some of the many threads when it was announced you would know there are other reasons possible.

Lets start off with the cruises out of Florida where the ship moved are LESS than out of Mobile. .. so it cant be all about some $25 more price out of New Orleans.

Most people said it was about the price of gas/oil. That the ship can go to the Bahamas for much less fuel than going from Mobile to Mexico. Carnival replied to this saying "its not ALL about the fuel", meaning it was at least partly.

I live in Grand Bay. Wester than you old man. I have to go across the bay a couple of times a week to inspect foreclosures for our deep pocketed govt because of all the folks who moved to Baldwin county and couldn't afford it. Save your choices and consequences speech for the newly homeless. :)

Elation and Paradise will not get the Water works like the other Fantasy class ships.

There will only be two ships in NOLA. The Ectasy is moving to Port Canaveral. But I agree with you it is a bunch of bull that New Orleans will charge more rooms on the ship.

Now they may sell more booze and make more off of the casino on ships out of NOLA.

New Orleans will have FOUR ships.

CCL Elation (Nov 2011); CCL Conquest (Nov 2011); NCL Spirit (Sept 2011); and RCCL Voyager of the Seas (Nov 2011)

CCL Ecstasy will be in New Orleans for Sept/Oct 2011 and be replaced with the CCL Elation starting Nov 5th 2011.

The NCL Star will replace the NCL Spirit in Oct 2012.

The Navigator of the Seas will replace the Voyager of the Seas in 2012.

Also the port DOES NOT dictate pricing of the fare of the ship. It can only collect a docking fee. Carnival has an entire dept whose jobs are to maximize revenue from the sale of cabins.

I saw Navigator is coming. That would be a awesome ship. Iv done Voyager twice, so not as excited about that coming to New Orleans. Ill drive to either New Orleans or Galveston, though I prefer the peace and quiet of the beach in Galveston.

I just loved Voyager, it was my favorite so far of any ships Iv been on. It still had fish tanks kept up back then and was so gorgeous. Though after twice, Im a lot more excited to see a new ship I havent been on coming within driving distance.

I might have to try a sailing on one or the other just to say I have been. I wonder what they will say about my lanyard with 24 whale tail pins on it and 6 NCL ones.

I know what you mean about a new ship (for the area). We booked the NCL Star because of it plus the fact NCL does 4 ports of call from New Orleans. RCCL and CCL are only doing three on a 7-night sailing. So far my suite has gone up $830 since I booked it. Normally I only book insides for my cruises but splurged on this one since my daughter will be 18 and a senior in high school. Now what to do with a 409sq foot cabin when you are used to 185sq ft.

Here is the story published in the Mobile Register.

Methinks Carnival is blowing smoke up the mayor's butt, and he is one of only a few who are buying it!

Their first news release said it was due to fuel cost because of having to switch to low sulfer fuel. Well that ended up being a lie as all ships have to switch to the low sulfer fuel at 200nm out. Plus Mobile is closer to Cozumel than Galveston so fuel cost would be lower. Plus you have to pay two seperate pilot fees to go up the MS River.

Will be on Elation this Thanksgiving and would appreciate any and all info on dining you would like to share with us. Also, what were your favorite dishes, etc.:)

Carnival just switched to new menus fleet wide. On the Elation you have two main dining rooms. You will be assigned to one of them for your evening meal. It will be on your S&S card as to table number and location. (unless you are doing anytime dining).

There is a buffet on the lido deck. Out by the pool is where you would get hamburgers/hotdogs/chicken/Mongolian BBQ. Pizza is available 24 hrs along with ice cream in the buffet area. Outside the casino, you have a sushi kiosk.

What a bunch of bovine excrement.

I don't pay any more to sail from NO than I do from Mobile.

I do know that I was on Elation last week.

There were 300 vips.

Maybe platinum folks don't spend as much as newbies?

And Mobile has too many return customers?

Plenty of photos of the Elation have been posted. I think the best thing about this ship is its level of sophistication mechanically and electronically. This was Carnival's first azipod equipped ship. The ship is very highly computerized even to the point of having the coffee urns computer controlled. While we do not benefit directly from all of this, it is very interesting to see that no other ship in the fleet has received all the electronic systems that this one has.

We were on the Elation for our first modern Carnival cruise (mid-1980s on the Carnivale does not count). We loved the ship. We have over 3,000 people aboard as it was spring break and every berth was filled. We still did not find the ship excessively crowded.

All in all, the Elation is a very nice ship, especially if you do not have to have a balcony to be happy.

I thnink Carnival over extended itself. Galvestion, NOLA and Mobile. Where I live, I can have a two or four hour drive to get on a ship, going to the same places, in the same time frame, and can compare cost. Even those who may drive further or fly, NOLA, Houston, or Mobile. Let's see, which one is cheaper for a 4 day to Cozumel, a 5 day to Progresso and Cozumel or, (for Galvestion and NOLA) a 7 day to similar ports, and Cozumel, ( unless it's the eastern route, then the both go to Key West and the Bahamas). It's kind of boring to me. Even with the new ships arriving in NOLA. Nothing different really. People are going to go with what is easy and cheap for the most part.

Instead of three ships within 8 hours of each other doing the same thing, they narrowed it to two.

Please note this is an opinion why Carnival left Mobile.
