We are going on our first ever cruise on the liberty of the seas on september the 24th, and was wondering if anyone has been on it?

I have been reading the RCI forum, but they all seem to be from the USA ( not that I have anything against the usa) but I would like an opinion from a fellow brit!!

cheers tony.

The majority of passengers will be from the US - we have made many friends over the years from over the pond and it is great to meet up again.

We did back to back on the Liberty a couple of years ago and it was a fantastic holiday. You will be amazed by the ship - it is awesome!

Make sure you get tickets to the ice show.

Enjoy your first cruise.

We were on the same cruise as gooners. I recognise him from the flow rider.

The majority of guests were from Spain, followed by Uk us and Canada. Leo the cruise director told us all from one of the balcony addresses in the royal promenade.

The ship is fab in all respects. The ports of call are all good with the possible exception of Toulon on Sunday. This seems to have been slotted in to save the sea miles associated with going to Palermo from Naples. Shame really because the beaches in Sicily were fantastic.

I am sure you will thourougly enjoy your time on liberty. Never long enough though!

We will be booking our next one soon.

Hi trina, what an excellent review & photo's, and it has made us even more excited!

I was just wondering if you noticed many people wearing shorts in the evening? Can they be worn at the shows and in the casinos?

Having not been on a cruise before, we have already packed and then unpacked about 3 times.

thanks tony.

Hi Tony,

You are going to have a fab holiday!

I didn't see any shorts in the MDR at all to be honest,on casual nights there were plenty of chinos and polo shirts/short sleeve shirts etc,and on the 2 formal nights lots of suits and tuxedos.I even saw 2 couples from Scotland whose men had the full kilt ensemble!

I suppose you could go and change from dinner before going to the shows, all depends how much time you have and what sitting you are-i.e show before or after you eat.

Glad you enjoyed my review :D

Hi Trina,

My wife has just realised that you can't take an iron on board, so now she is panicking how to keep our clothes crease free, lol.

She wants to know how you managed, any tips??

Also I am wondering how much money I would need to take, so can you give me an idea of the bar prices? were the drinks expensive??

sorry for the many questions,

tony.

My husbands knee is still playing up from the flowrider! I told him he shouldn't be doing it at 50!!!

We are looking to book again for next Summer, maybe a Voyager class ship for a different intinerary....

50? 50? He's a young sprog!!! My DH did both flow riders and the zip line on the Oasis and he's 66 with a knee replacement. I'll bet he wasn't the oldest either. 50 is the new 40 for sure.

We packed our formal night stuff in the plastic that comes with dry cleaning and it kept crease free!

Bar prices-remember when you see a price on a bar menu to add 15% for gratuities and 8% sales tax. Menu prices were about,a bottle of beer $5,glass of wine $9,cocktails anything between $6-10.Not cheap, but I suppose about comparable to a London hotel!!

We took 200 Euros and only spent about 50,as we only got off the ship twice.I put the rest towards our seapass account. We spent approx $300 on the account,so not too much in 7 days, and that was a few drinks each every night(maybe a few more on certain nights ;)).

I know,I know!!! It's just he hasn't stopped moaning about it since we got home.......

we were on this ship 2007 western carribean and even though we have been on other RC ships this was by far the best ever, its big enough not to feel crowded and plenty on board to do.

No cash needed on board as everything is put onto your sea pass account and the only cash you need is for your purchases at each port of call.

Remember that everything is priced in dollars and if the exchange rate is good (as it was then) things were not too expensive .

Couple of tips we have found from this site is

1. make sure you select that your credit card providor converts the currency and not RC

2. When everyone else is admiring the ship go straight to the dining room and check where you are seated ( it will be on your sea pass card) and if you are not happy then you get the chance to change it (we requested a table for 2 and found we were on a table for 6)

Just make sure you enjoy yourself and i'm sure you will be hooked
