marshhawk Posted September 12, 2011 #27 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Hurry back-I need more! Our Legend cruise II is next year but I love to "be there" through reviews. The two of you who would have graduated in 73(same year as me) seems to me you were class mates at one time. Interesting way to hook up after all these years. kew1031 Posted September 12, 2011 #29 Share Posted September 12, 2011 "I hook up Norma (our GPS, named after my mother because it’s an annoying voice that tells you what to do all the time and never admits when she’s wrong) and off we go…. " I laughed so hard when I read this, I almost fell out of my chair! I had to stop reading right there and tell you. My SO probably calls his GPS Maxine for the same reason. Being a military brat we left after my ninth grade year when my dad was sent back to Viet Nam.
jobell Posted September 12, 2011 #33 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Will be on the Legend in 26 days...I cannot wait!!! Quick question - do you happen to have the fun times still and do you recall what nights were cruise elegant nights? Thank you and great review...can't wait to read more. :)

beachbum6264 Posted September 13, 2011 Author #35 Share Posted September 13, 2011 Really enjoying your review. I have never been on the Legend but am now interested in sailing this ship. Thanks, this has been our favorite ship - love the layout, the itinerary, and sailing from Tampa. I can just ignore the urns! Will be on the Legend in 26 days...I cannot wait!!! Quick question - do you happen to have the fun times still and do you recall what nights were cruise elegant nights? Thank you and great review...can't wait to read more. :) Thanks - I have some of the Fun Times, but my scanner bit the dust and haven't bought a new one (had to buy a new TV today, so the scanner will have to wait). Elegant nights were Monday (first sea day) and Thursday (Roatan) Do they still play cornhole in the main lobby ??? I saw something about bean bag toss in the lobby - guess that's what they are calling cornhole. Didn't go (it would interfere with my reading/drinking/eating/relaxing routine!) I'll be back soon..... work got in my way today (whoever said teachers only work from 8-3 needs to follow me around... went in at 6:45 this morning, got home after 6, just now taking a break from more school work. I'm tired!) Should be able to get some more 'reliving' done tomorrow.... Thanks for the kind words from everyone. I'm having fun doing this review

beachbum6264 Posted September 14, 2011 Author #41 Share Posted September 14, 2011 Back to reliving the fun: Tuesday, Aug. 30 – Cozumel Good morning, Cozumel!! Woke up just in time to watch us pull in to Cozumel, thanks to room service being right on time. Scattered showers around the island but looking forward the coast is clear. So, as soon as they clear us, we are off the ship and headed through the drizzle to the taxi stand. Look: Rainbow!!! Not many people have gotten off the ship yet, guess the slight drizzle held them back. Not us, the taxi is dry! We grab a cab to Paradise Beach ($13 for the 4 of us). It’s early and we are the first ones …. only a couple of employees are there. It’s my 8th or 9th trip there, the 2nd since they opened the pool. I know there are better beaches in our future, so we grab some chairs in the pool, close to the bar (thinking ahead!). This is what Paradise Beach looks like, before the crowds get there: see those 2 chairs right in front? Ours! The bar is just to the right. view to the beach: Look, no one is here!!! B. has the pool to himself We were there over an hour before the next group of people showed up. It was Paradise!
Sol y Mar Posted September 14, 2011 #42 Share Posted September 14, 2011 Flippen Road is not too far from us, just about 4 exits north...Henry County, Georgia. I love Legend, we have sailed on her several times. We also named our GPS, lol. My daughter said, "She's a pretty smart cookie" and so we named her Cookie. :p Sol y Mar
beachbum6264 Posted September 14, 2011 Author #43 Share Posted September 14, 2011 They charge $2 a person for the chairs (best bargain of the cruise) and $10 or $12 (don’t remember) for a wrist band to use the water toys. You get a wrist band for the chairs, too, but I always get them to let me wrap it around the strap of my bathing suit so I don’t have a strange tan line on my wrist. They have waiters for each section, Carlos took great care of us – we never had an empty cup for long. When lunch time rolled around we ordered with Carlos and had him bring the food to a table next to the bar. We had the whole fried grouper (again), L had some guac and some Nachos Paradise, and W (the non-adventurous eater of the bunch) had a hamburger. We were all happy with our choices. Huh, wonder how those “beverages” got into my picture???? We spent a wonderfully relaxing day at Paradise Beach, goal reached for the day. L and I hung out in our pool chairs and read (LOVE the waterproof cover I got for my Kindle) and consumed a couple of adult beverages, B and W wandered, snoozed, ate and drank. A good time was had by all. Back to the port, the guys headed back on board for an afternoon snack and nap, since they had such a strenuous day! L and I did some shopping at the port, no shopping talk needed. The Elation was here Then back on board to wait for sail away, and see if there are any pier runners. The Triumph is our neighbor

beachbum6264 Posted September 14, 2011 Author #49 Share Posted September 14, 2011 No runners….. just a jumper! I was standing up on deck watching the last few stragglers head back to the ship, and I heard a SPLASH. I looked, and sure enough, there was someone in the water…. you can see her climbing on the ladder in the center of the picture: there was a nice, helpful officer of some sort right there to help her out Not sure if she jumped or fell or was pushed, just that she wound up in the water, and was escorted onto the Triumph. No runners today. We were a few minutes late leaving, I think one of the new entertainers came on board right before we left. Back to the cabin for a nap to rest up for show and dinner. The show tonight was Live Motown and More… starring Marcus Anthony (must have been the guy I saw boarding this afternoon). Great voice, only complaint was that the show was too short, only about 35 minutes. He said to come back for his 2nd show…. but that was at 9:00, and we’d be in dinner. Dinner tonight: prosciutto ruffles Chicken quesadillas (sorry, got hungry and forgot to take the picture… ) Penne Mariscos for dh and a Flat Iron steak for me – cooked just right, and it was tender and tasty Then off to see the Comedy shows… Scotty K and Al Romas, crowded as usual. Tomorrow’s port: Belize, and the best excursion ever (could have been the rum punch???)
Crusin Karen Posted September 14, 2011 #50 Share Posted September 14, 2011 I've never heard of alligator fritters and now I am heairng about them all the time! Must be the "new menu" because they weren't available when we cruised in May. Sounds interesting. What do they taste like? (PLEASE don't say alligator! :o)
