departing Venice- St. Marks on which side?

we will be departing Venice on the MSC Opera. Which side of the ship should we be standing on so that we will see St.Marks as we leave? Should we be on port side or starboard side? I want to get some good pics. thanks in advance

Yes, the port side, it is a great sail away from Venice as you have a birds eye view.

Yes port side and if you have video option rest camera on rail and get a great memory on tape. Dont let go :D

This to me is key. Go on the top deck of the ship for the best viewing.

I took most of the photos coming back. Leaving we just sailed out into the open sea, coming back it took a while to go into canal (Guidecca??) and the city was on the right side.

On Saturday night, we were on a vaporetto behind Costa Victoria as she sailed out of Venice - looked like everyone was up top taking photos - it really was a beautiful sight. (and we had a fearless vaporetto captain - I was a little concerned as she zipped across the water from one stop to the other, looking like she was going to cut off one of Victoria's tugs:eek:)

Just make sure you get up and see it wherever you stand..it's one of the best sailouts you can hope to see. We did it a month ago....it's magical. :D
