Ever had a Mercury Sky Suite Guarantee??

So far I can't find one single person that has ever had a SS Gty on the Mercury.

Is this unusual?? It is still 35 days until sailaway so I am still hopeful of the Royal Suite upgrade for our onboard wedding.

Too far fetched?

GTY's often get assigned the least desirable cabin in the category--which makes sense, considering you are paying less than what others paid for the same category.

Anything is possible, but you should consider yourself very, very lucky if you get a sky suite on the 12th deck -- those have huge balconies. It's more likely that you'll end up on the 10th deck. Same size cabin, but smaller balcony that is completely covered.

I don't know if having an onboard wedding planned will improve your chances of an upgrade.

If you get assigned a royal suite, well, it will be like winning the lottery twice. It can happen, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

In any event, sky suites are great cabins, and Mercury is (in my opinion) the nicest ship in the fleet. If you saves some money and end up in a 10th floor sky suite--you did great! Enjoy your cruise, and congrats!:)

We had to pay full price as far as I could see from earlier on Celebrity site. We had reserved a CC but changed our minds at the last minute and our TA found us the last Sky Suite left.

My TA said we may not find out our room until we board?

You might not find out until you board, but more than likely you'll receive your cabin assignment when you receive your cruise documents.

You can also check the celebrity web site from time to time to see if they've assigned you a cabin. You have to enter your reservation number to pull up your record, and if it says GTY then they haven't assigned it yet.

As ecowen says:

  • Most likely - Sky Suite Deck 10
  • If you are very lucky - Sky Suite on Deck 12
  • If you are extremely lucky - Sky Suite on Deck 12 with one of the largest balconies
  • If you have been praying constantly for the past year forgiving all your sins, have done good deeds for others throughout your life and are blessed with the luck that even Mr Lucky Luck, winner of last years Luckiest Man Alive contest would be jealous of - a Royal Suite.

We've stayed in a Sky Suite on deck 10, forward. It was our first cruise and we loved it. The first two Sky Suites each side on Deck 10 don't have an overhang and we enjoyed that. We loved Mercury:)

Enjoy!

I was just hoping for a balcony with a chaise lounge and some sun!

Deck ten is all covered and don't know if they are big enough for a lounge??

Do you remember?

Liz

P.S. don't know about good, but I have always been extremely lucky in the casinos!

If you get 1012, 1014, 1015 or 1019, they don't have the overhang and are sunny in morning or afternoon, depending on which side you are on. We were in 1012. There was enough room for a couple of chairs with ottomans and a table on the balcony (but not much else). They aren't like proper sun loungers, but we found them to be comfortable.

Thanks Phil,

I was wondering if being near the magrodome was good or bad on Sky Deck?

Some folks said they preferred Penthouse over sky deck for motion.

If it were me now, having done Deck 10, I'd go for Deck 12, just for the change. I'm up there in October on Mercury. Not sure if the motion will be that much greater. I'm more to midship this time, so I don't think being higher up will be too much of a problem.

The Sky Deck seems a good location. It's straight down the elevators to the cafe and restaurant, although I am going to ban the word 'elevator' in favour of 'stairs' so that I can tackle that midnight buffet with a clear consience.

Wherever you end up, have a great cruise.

Today on My Reservations on Celebrity web site, they changed their minds about SS GTY Penthouse deck , no room number and put Sky Suite Sky Deck Room 1202?

Can they downgrade us to Penthouse Deck again ? What a roller coaster!

Just 14 days to go......

Liz:o  :p

So if my memory serves correct, SS 1202 means that you scored "extremely lucky" on the excitedofharpenden scale.

I just got up the nerve to call Celebrity and they promised that Sky Deck Suite 1202 will be my room for sure, no move back to another deck or room.

I should trust them , right?

Go directly to the casino as soon as it opens, having made sure you have bought your lottery ticket before boarding!

Have a great cruise and let us know how it went:)

Phil

Thanks, you got that right! I plan to do exactly that!

They are closed when tendered too? Usually my winnings pay for the trips.

It is also fairly close to the wedding site too in the Navigator.

Sunsets (and wind) all the way and in Mexico from the huge balcony!!
