ryano Posted October 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2011 I just found another price drop (third one so far) because of a residency rate for my next cruise :) This one was a 60.00 per person drop. It wasnt there around 4 pm today! I know there are some other habitual price checkers such as myself but keep checking the prices folks! A few times a day could pay off! When I turned my NextCruise cert into a specific cruise back in March, I was in at 789.00 pp for a PR cabin on deck 8 on Freedom next April.......We are now at 639.00 pp. Maybe it will go down some more but if not I think thats a good deal! Although I know its against somes belief here to pay off early and let RCI hold your money, I paid a big chunk on the cruise last month and with this current drop, my balance is a whopping $14.22 :)

(I am paying $300 per month) Way do you said that its against somes belief here to pay off early and let RCI hold your money?

Alot of people recommend waiting until final payment to pay off the cruise instead of letting RCI hold the money and gain interest for months. I and others like to pay it off as quickly as we possibly can. Its an age old discussion that has been brought up around here a few times. To me, the sense of having my cruise paid off, is worth more than the pennies it would make in interest sitting in a savings account...Im banking on RCI not going out of business but I will take that chance LOL. Rare BecciBoo Posted October 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2011 Just checked our cruise today and voila....reduction in D1 rate enabling us to upgrade from Promenade to a D1 for...drum roll please....$14.31! That's right, honest! I couldn't believe my ears when the agent told me the amount. We went through an online TA company. I had to call them of course. But what a surprise...and the E2s were on a guarantee rate but the guarantee price was $250 pp higher than the D1 rate. The upgrade fairy might not have been free but she was definitely on our side. cowpokes Posted October 20, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2011 I booked a D 1 room online thru Royal Caribbean. Can I check online or do I need to to call RC to keep checking on the current price thru the price I paid?
Rare silentbob007 Posted October 20, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2011 Act like you are booking a new cabin to see the current rates. Though ... Mondays and Tuesdays you might see sale rates for "new bookings only" and not eligible for price reductions.

Same here. We also after paying off the cruise put $$ down as onboard credit .

Marysunshine Posted October 20, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2011 I booked with an on line travel agency, well known, on the NOS for June 3rd. The only way I know to see price differences is to go back on RCCL and check. Is there another way to do it????

I'm booked for this week with my kids and mom. Our category has gone up about $150/pp so I'm glad I moved my reservation when I did. It is the week going into Easter Sunday, so I don't think it will drop, but my booking was made before the price drop policy changes were put in place, so if the prices do drop, I can get them up to a few days before sailing on my room. I split the original reservation and put the kids in their own room, so they will not be able to get any price change past final. Last year, they put out some sales for this week and the following one...book an inside and get a balcony...anyone remember? It was for Oasis/Allure and Navigator...not sure if Freedom class was included. While that will only be for new bookings, it might affect prices if things aren't selling well. Yes, I do remember that....on Oasis/Allure I believe it moved you into a Boardwalk or Central Park balcony. I have always found in the past that this particular week has some steep after final price drops....it has been that way for the past few years....this is most of FL's spring break week and they know they can sell these cabins out late in the game due to that. Allure's price is out of control for this week:eek:This week sells VERY well for triple and quad cabins and they are always left with plenty doubles. Considering that Freedom still has some hefty suites still available for this week and they are already capacity controlling cabins leads me to believe that this year will be little different then years past....actually in years past suites would have been pretty much already sold out by this point. You can never tell. We booked our November Allure trip over a year ago for a week which I did not think would be very popular and our price has done nothing but go up and up. That would probably mean they are testing the waters (no pun intended)...to see at what price point people they start to sell some cabins.....there has been quite a spread as of late between interiors and balcony cabins for some sailings.... probably a good indication the rest will eventually follow. ryano Posted October 20, 2011 Author #18 Share Posted October 20, 2011 .....there has been quite a spread as of late between interiors and balcony cabins for some sailings.... yeah for our sailing, the spread right now is over 500.00 pp difference between PR and Balcony! I just cant do that! Thats almost a whole other 7 day cruise! Heck, its 260.00 pp to upgrade to an oceanview right now!
