Heated pools ???

Hi, I have sailed the Gem but never in December. Are the pools heated when sailing out of NYC in December ??

I don't believe they are heated at all. I was on the Gem last week and the pools were cold all week. The hot tubs were nice and toasty and the waterslide water seemed to be quite a bit warmer than the pools too.

Wouldn't these have to be slightly heated? I thought they emptied and re-filled each night with sea water, at least that is what happened on the Sun in Jan.

All NCL ships , 84.6 degrees all the time. Even in Alaska . ;)

Well they were freezing when cruising out of NYC in October. So I don't think they would make an exception for you folks in December. ;)

Your kidding of course?? Never had a heated pool yet. Maybe some ship that I've missed, but the ones I've been on use unheated sea water.

Every NCL cruise we have been on has had the pool heated. So say the kids and the temp is displayed on the TV in the cabin all day every day. Even in Alaska ;)

i know the courtyard haven's pool has a glass roof over the pool - wonder if it's heated?

The pools were heated on the Jewel on our last cruise (Oct-Nov. '11).

I know that on our Dec 08 cruise from NYC the NCL channel on the TV kept saying that the pools were heated to 84 degrees... I didn't try them until we got to Florida but there were some kids swimming. The hot tubs were heated and that was enough for me.

Just off the Jewel and the adult pool temperature was 86 degrees every day according to television monitor...!

I imagine the same for the Gem.

This is our experience as well. Temps across the pools were in the mid 80s in August on Star in Alaska. I was in them 5 of 7 days.

Please understand that a pool at 84 degrees will seem a bit cold (anything lower than your body temperature will)
